The EX version is the way to go, now that I have the EX, there is no way I would ever go with the Sportsman... I have a brand new one(Sportsman) just sitting on my work bench that I will probably not get going now that I have the EX..

Sorry Ive been away for a while, life has been quite unkind recently and I havent had much time to post or fly.

I wanted to post some pics about the new Quick option parts but they have embedded tags on them that keep them from being used. Just to let you guys know they have been very busy in Nishikawada, New parts include Thrust washer bearing based blade grip for the SP. a 116t main gear for the SP and EX. CF frame panels. And solid damper spacers for the EX. All the above listed parts are already available.
the EP6 is going back into production and there s also an EP10sp and EP10ex that will be comming out...

Do this one comes with 5mm shaft, and would it fit the SP hub? What about the damper collar?

The EX hub and the SP hub are exactly the same , with the exception of color, EX blue ,SP silver.. I have both the EX and the SP , even where the main shaft slides in and bolts up , 6mm hole ; the EX shaft is 6mm on both ends , and 8mm thru the middle..
This pic is of the EX blade grips with 5mm spindle, they are not anodised is the only different from the EX .

So then I could maybe upgrade my SP without laying out almost enough money for the EX kit?
Things are looking good there.

And you know gorn, I'm also thinking about not upgrading to EX. My SP is kind of performing realy well right now, the one thing I'm kinda going to address right now is the washout levers. I'm currently figuring out how to hybrid the EX's with my 6mm shaft. The way it looks to me, for now maybe, is that the SP main shaft maybe able to handle 2700rpm HS, that I just have to make sure the washout lever won't give out in doing so....

Cool keep us posted.
I thought the main shaft deformed at high rpm? Or is it the tail?

It is the main shaft, I have seen first hand what can happen with RPMs over 2500RPM ; shaft failure!! blademan44 , bought an EP-8 Sportsman from me and he was not aware of the 2500RPM max rule , and his heli blew up on him .

Hmmm. I didn't know that . Thanks for the info Jim. Most people that reports failure only mention tail blowing apart. So I ordered 26T slow down gear. But I guess I'm gonna stick with 2400rpm then. But I'm still gonna try to hybrid the ex washout lever with the sp...

You can always make you some hardened main 6mm shafts, I made some for my sportsman and I get the HS up to 2600-2650RPMs no prob!

I used blue locktight on everything, no need for green anywhere IMO.
