I'm going to do a video review first of what comes in the kit so I can show my Southern California Heli Club buddies how great this heli is. They are making fun of me right now saying that the canopy looks like a snow plow!!

No motor or esc. I think thats how they got the kit down to $199. It basically competes with the Trex 450s kit.

FYI, the dealer price of the platinum version (white fibre glass) w/o motor is US$216. So motor/ESC isn't the reason of this price reduction.

I'm just telling what I know, discussion purposes. My last message was to pointing out that taking out the motor from the kit does not justify the huge reduction in price.

BTW, your statement about different dialect was insulting both YuYu and I, did you realize that?? How many languages can you speak?

Anyway, I have a part list with the dealer prices. In case you are interested I can send you a copy for reference.

I don't need a list of dealer prices as I am not a dealer, but just a heli flyer.

Thanks anyways though!!!

Here's the review of the new kit. Don't know if I pronounced the name of Gazaur correctly. Its weird. Oh well. If links don't work, try later. I'm using a cheap server.

Man, this is a slow tedious build. There like 1 Million parts, my goodness. If you think the Trex 450se build was difficult, multiply this x 100. You need to assemble every single pebble on this sucker. Its crazy. My arms and hands feel stiff now.

There's some wierd stuff on it too. Manual says the tail blades go clockwise. I tried it first the conventional way, but the belt kept going out of alignment on the tail. Finally did it the manual way, and it stayed on track. Wierd.

There's a few places you need to file the frames to make it fit. The manual even says to do this. Also, there was one hole I had to drill, as it seems they forgot to make a hole at assembly.

Good work with the videos, are you planing to video the build?

If the wings are traveling faster than the fuselage, it's probably a helicopter.

Hi brovic777

Nice work.

Can you tell me more about the tail problem and the hole you needed to drill. I didn't encounter these problems when I did my build.
I helped Gazaur did a major update on their manual since their old one was not very good. I thought I got most of the bugs during my build^^ haha. Apparently not...

By the way, I do know they drilled a lot more holes than necessary since Yuyu had a lot of options in mind (like you can shift CG, setup for more 3D or FAI flight style, etc). But to keep it simple a lot of holes are not actually used (I think you should know after the build that there are a lot more holes than necessary). I am surprised that its actually missing a hole haha^^.

Hey Alan, I didn't actually have any tail problems. What I meant to say was that the tail setup is different than conventional tails. Like on the Trex 450, the tail blades rotate from the tail boom up. But for the Mars 480, according to the manual the blades are to rotate opposite. I tried to make them go like the Trex 450se, and the belt would slip off the tail wheels that keep them aligned. But once I changed the direction of the belt, and made the blades rotate to go down toward the tail boom, the belt stayed on track perfect.

Can you confirm this is the correct way for the tail blades to rotate in flight, opposite of Trex 450se?

As for holes, only one was missed on the bottom. No big deal, I easily drilled one out. There does seem to be alot of extra wholes and slots than are on the manual. When I finish the build, I might move some stuff around.

There was one other thing I encountered on the tail boom mounts. Seems they put some spacer bullets on the holes where the tail boom mounts go in. This kinda made it harder to install the mounts, and actually a bit of the metal on the lower mount seems to be breaking off when I tighten up the screw. I reccomend for those doing the build, to cut the metal bullets off from the whole. On the manual, those bullets werern't there, so I think probably they accidently cliped them on rushing to get the kits out. No big deal. Though, I probably need to replace the two metal tail boom mounts in the near future if I encounter the screws not holding. Metal seemed kind of brittel there.

Overall, so far, I'm really impressed with the way its all built. Its like they literally shrunk a full 600 size heli to make it a 480. Can't wait to take it out to the field to fly it.

I'm not making any build video's as this is my first kit and don't know what to expect. Maybe if I ever build a second one, I can do a build video, but man, it would be heck of long, since there is sooo much to build.

Still gotta finish the rest of the heli today. Maybe I'll even do a test hover video.

Here's some more pics from last nights build:

Yes, the tail rotation is suppose to be unconventional.
Not sure why, but nothing about this heli is conventional, tail rotation is just one more thing.

There are so many parts with this kit, I think Gazaur did a pretty good job of getting all of them in an organized fashion for us to build.
There were times where I needed to look for a part, but it is definetly not confusing. They made it quite straight forward, but just time consuming (nothing is prebuilt, which is good since I trust myself much better than some factory worker). Its not like building a puzzle where I need to figure out everythings myself. I think it could easily become very very confusing with this many little parts if Gazaur didn't pay attention with this.

Can you clarify about the tail boom mount?
I can talk a look at my to confirm, what should I look for?
