Software update.
Hi

I have just swapped me to a Multigov and put it on my Synergy.
I have not flown it yet, waiting for better weather made me look at Aerospires homepage, there I found some info about the new software. Now I am a little quorious.

Has any of you made the jump from the earlier version 1.1 to 1.5 and have you found it to be better?

Thanks Krunder

Help!
Well I was an idiot and installed the magnets on my fan facing the same direction before I found the part in the instructions stating you only want the sensor to sense ONE magnet . I tested the magnets to make sure the sensor sensed them but I should have installed them opposite directions instead of the same direction.

I would really prefer to not figure out how to remove a magnet mounted in an aluminum fan with epoxy... So I'm wondering if there's a way I could overcome this with programming and still have it function properly? Could I possibly turn the headspeed on the govenor up by twice your desired headspeed, because the gov will think it's spinning twice the rpm. Dang I'm an idiot for doing this . Although it seems like telling the gov to spin twice the rpm would work. I didn't see anywhere in the instructions that would seem to make that not work... but then again I am new to govenors. One thing I just thought of, the rpm sensor range is 500-25,000 so having two magnets on the fan when the engine is spinning about 17,000 rpm would be quite far outside the fan rpm limit . Has anyone else been dumb enough to do this? And possibly smart enough to fix it ??

Nevermind about the magnet issue, I solved it. I drilled through the back of my fan to push one of the magnets out and then re-epoxyied it the other direction. All better now . I decided I didn't want to try and overcome an issue and end up creating others. The only issue is that for some reason my Quick UK fan is like completely stuck on my motor . But I was able to drill it out while it was still on the motor. The Quick UK fan uses a cone washer on the bottom against the front bearing and I think from tightening down the prop nut the fan is basically stuck on the cone washer. Ugh oh well I wont have to deal with that until I need to get the fan off. Hopefully that isn't for a while.

To make sure I didnt throw the balance of the fan off I drilled the same size hole behind the other magnet, although I didn't push it out.

I just installed one in my Stratus tonight. Very simple installation and setup, great instructions, and I've heard nothing but good things about the flight performance. I'll try it out this weekend.

I'm interested to hear more reports of how the completely stock settings for the govenor and rev limiter modes work without any changes to the programming.

I'm probably going to be setting up my EagleTree flight logger to help me dial in my governor.

""I'm interested to hear more reports of how the completely stock settings for the govenor""

I have used mine with the factory settings in governor mode and it worked great, I was actually surprised how will it worked, I found myself trying to bog the motor and over speed it but it didn't, even with an analog servo it just worked great, after a few flights I raised the feed-forward 5% because of the analog servo, it didn't really need it but I wanted to mess with it..

Cool to hear! I have an Airtronics 94758, it has a transit time of .06. Hopefully that will be fast enough for the throttle .

I love the Multi-gov. I found that I liked it to be in over-speed for normal mode to avoid the jump in rpm at 25% throttle.

I have been using mine in both governor and limiter modes using the stock configuration. I use a 9252 digital servo on the throttle and have not had any issues with the stock settings. I am now running the latest firmware but I did not see a big difference in performance over the previous version.

Been runnign mine since August with a JR DS821. I have only run full GOV mode but have had ZERO issues with the unit. Bob Li is a great guy and was very helpfull when it came to set-up questions. This is the only GOV I will run on any of my nitro machines.

One of the advantages of the MultiGov was the ability to update the firmware. There was talk about being able to find some way of doing it through the controller that comes with it. Haven't seen anything on that come through. Currently for firmware updates you have to send the unit back to Aerospire. Contact Bob Li for the details or check out the website.

Hunting Issue
Hi Guys,

I hope i get someone to see this and solve my problem.

Ok, i'm using a Multigov 2.0 (not the pro) on my raptor 90. I had a flight before installing the gov in the chopper for engine settings and tuned the engine well and had 2 good flights.

I installed the multigov and set speeds of 1700, 1900 full and 1900 OVSP in normal, idleup1 and idleup2 modes. My gear ratio set to 8.272 (91 teeth main gear and 11 teeth pinion) digital servo off, and checked sensor for 100% and did all the idle and high test and everything seems to work fine. All others (main menu and advance menu are in stock mode setting). My throttle curves in normal mode is 0, 50 & 100 and in idleup1 & idleup2 i got 100, 80 & 100.

In the test flight, in the normal mode, the gov tookover at around half throttle and throttle goes wwweeeee wwwweeeeeee wweeeeeeeeee. Is this what hunting is? the same thing happens in idleup1 and idleup2 also. It is not the issue with my engine cause after this i disconnected the multigov and had a flight and the engine seems to be running goo.

What do i tweak in the multigov to get rid of this problem?

Please help.

Regards,
Adarsh

Sounds like your gov sensor is not picking up properly. Does the gov test check out ok, if so I would try another sensor pickup just in case.

Yes, the gov test says ok. After the engine is started the heart light flashes very fast too. According to the manual the fast flash seems to say that the sensor is working. Am i correct?

Yes fast flash means the sensor is reading. However I had a bad sensor that made the motor surge like you explained.

Have you removed the gov and flown the motor with just curves? Does the motor run perfectly fine on curves? If so then you either have a bad setup or bad hardware. Either e-mail Aerospire support on their web site, Bob is very quick to help out.

Yes, i flew the heli before the gov hookup and after seeing this problem. It seemed to fly excellent without the Gov.

I'll replace the gov first to new gov and check if the surging goes, if it does'nt then that means the unit is good. Next i'll try changing the sensor as you mentioned.
Thanks, any more inputs?

Adarsh

Thansk Aerospire and Everybody!
Problem sorted out!

I dont know how, cause, i did all the things. I leaned the engine a little and decresed the base gain its now 40.
Now the hunting problem is soughted out, but it seems i have a little hiccup from the engine especially when i unload the head ( i climb high and in idleup-2 i give zero degrees) the heli is gliding down and thats when i hear the engine hicup. should i lean the needles even more or should i tweak the gov?

Thanks again,

Regards,
Adarsh
