Hi guys,

Everytime I spool up, I'm hearing metallic clanging and the tail stops with a louder clang and starts back up. It doesn't do this once its up to its headspeed. Any thoughts on this... One-Way Clutch? Clutch Bell? Fan/Clutch Assembly slipping?....

Thanks for any help.

p.s. Winter flying caused a minor blade tip and slightly nicked the asphalt. Cause: aileron servo died. Blades have been replaced and all servos digitalized. The heli has only seen a gallon and half of hovering so far.

Just had it happen to me the belt was twisted wrong . It was exactally as you described. was smooth when flying and would stop and jerk when when spooling up or down.

I just checked it, tightened it up again. I even took took the motor down to inpect the fan'clutch assembly... seemed tight. I took off the main gear to inspect the one-way clutch, but I couldn't take the sleeve of but it looked fine anyway although Im not too sure if it's where its slipping inside. Clutch bell too...

The belt was not loose, but I'm checking the twisting now.

I took the tail out but the belt slipped from my finger. I wanted to take a peek inside to see if there were extra twists, but it slipped.

At the same time as the blade stike, I also noticed the belt was very very loose. I was hovering at -10 degrees Celsius. A lot of stange things happen when its that cold I guess.

Anyway, after re-installing the tail. I spooled it up a bit.... but I was doing it on my dining room table. I didn't go that far, it's 9:30 in the evening and I've got a wife and grumpy neighbors.

It didn't seem to make the clanging noise, but I'd have to double check tomorow... I'll let you know if that was it or not.
