Hi
I know that there are a lot of Raptor 50's out there with 401's with 9254 servo. I seem to be having a locking problem at like 1700 rpm. I have had to set the gyro sensitivity in the 9303 at 92 on the Gyro screen in HH and the non HH to 21. At lower head speeds it will not hold on a climb out. As I increase head speed it seems to be better. I had some problems lately some me and some not so I put some woodies back on it till I sort it out and the head speed is at 1650 to 1700. I was told that at 1900 to 2000 with carbon blades I should have no problem. Looking for more input the more I know the more air time I will have and I have been on a bad streak lately and I am really getting rusty hense the woodies.

Irish,

Is the 401 in digital servo mode, no REVO mixing is turned on, and the gyro was set up mechanically for no drift in a hover?

Gy 401

Hi Obsesive this is Mark from out club. Well I have to say originally it was checked but after a few crashes I have had I did not check it again in non heading hold. I will do that the next time I am outan make sure it is close to neutral. The thing that bothers me is that at lower head speeds on the JR radio I am almost at the limit of the setting on the radio. But with the higher head speed it does react better. I am thinking about sending the 9254 servo back to Futaba to make sure it is ok. I need to get another gyro for my new heli and I am thinking about the GY611 but damn that is a lot of money.

Hi Irish
Check your servo arm lenght.. A longer servo arm wil make you T/R responce quicker and could help. Climb outs are very demanding on the tail so you need a good head speed so your tail has enough power to over drive the tork from you main blades

If you realy want to keep the lower head speed thik about speeding up your tail rotor.. See Gohbee.com there supose to have a kit to speed up the T-Rotor for Raptors, that should give you the autority you need. You can probably get it elsware too. Since I'm don't know, own or even see raptors aroun here, I don't look for there parts...

Hope this helps

What is the length of you tail blades? Are they carbon or originals?

I had this problem with my Raptor/9303/401 combo... the issue wasn't the 9303 or the 401. It was the setup on the Raptor. You need to make sure you are getting complete and full travel on the tail. What's happening is that when you punch out the tail servo doesn't move the tail blades far enough to correct it.

Just make sure your tail is moving as far as possible without binding. If need be add a longer arm on the servo.
