I am currently thinking of changing my trex450x v2 for a new more up to date version, but i am interested in your opinions on which one to get.
My current thoughts are too:-

1: Do up my existing trex and convert it to ccpm

2: Buy a new trex kit, but I don't know whether to get the hde, or the cde, as I cant seem to see much difference between the two.

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks

Having an SE I am biased. It sure is nice. If you buy one though, make sure you go through the sticky threads here to work out some issues prior to building. Its a great machine.

A less exspensive way would be to get the blue main gear, the blue tail rotor set with the large blue and small blue gears and metal drive/driven TR belt gears.

Also, get some better main shaft bearings, maybe a tail servo upgrade, and spend a lot less overall oney, and still have a heli you understand. The CCPM leaves me a bit cold even after the setup vids by finless, thank you BTW.

Do am A 1 job of assembly, maybe get an extra battery ot two, a link sizing tool, ball link pliers, get 'em in stoc heremy !, and have an overall better experience with the oruginal HDE heli.

just my thoughts,,,,,,,,,,have an HDE as above,,,,,,,,,

Upgade....

I was in the same situation and I decided to upgrade to an SE and I haven't looked back. Do yourself a favor and get the SE if you can budget it...

Riddle me this?

To be more direct...

How much $$ are you willing to sink initially?

How good are you at not crashing often?

Then go from there.

Money isn't my first consideration, but is still a factor. I suppose I was lured by the fact the ccpm conversion was an inexpensive way of achieving more control authority.

I am capable of flying a raptor without too many issues, but the trex is a little harder to fly so I expect to have an average crash rate and not worry about it too much,

It would appear that the SE is everybodies favourite I just wondered how nuch better is it than the cde or hde.

Thanks for your replies

Hi Busher
The SE isn't a huge amount better, flying wise, but it is a lot tougher. All the metal parts will save you a ton of money and time in spares and rebuilds. The metal parts are pretty much unbreakable. And of course it looks the mutts nuts!
I started with a V2 last year and upgraded as and when the metal stuff was released. Cost me a fortune in the long run. If I was starting again I'd definitely go with the SE.
While your at it order a set of Heli-up's Gorilla gear.
