I created a new thread here so we can discuss the Trex & Power Testing & Everything else related to Trex.

Thanks

DPR Recordings for the Trex SE

I took some measurements today. I first used the EVO flight 1800 3S pack then used the TP 2100 Prolite 3S pack. I am currently testing the Medusa 3400 on 13T.

Here are the results. This motor is very power hungry.

Medusa 3400 13T Apex 15C 3S 2100MAH
Headspeed @ 2900
315 Carbon Blades
+10/-10 Pitch

Very Windy Today!!!
HeadSpeed over 2800 Still
Medusa 3400 on 12T
Apex 15C 2100 3S
325 Pro Woodies
+10/-10 Pitch
HS56 Servos

Medusa 4200 has amazing amounts of torque with headspeeds well over 3000....not for the newbie. I throttled it back to 3000 RPM with plenty of torque to match.

HeadSpeeds well over 3000 RPM'S if so desire.
Medusa 4200 on 10T
TP Prolite 2100 3S
315 Align Carbons
+10/-10

I was sent a Electric Power 2200 MAH 20C-30C to try out. I really liked the battery compared to some of the other brands out there. They are heavier then the new Apex & TP packs but they had and held quite a bit of punch. Below is a graph which included some Tic-Toc's.

Headspeed @ 2900
Electric Power 2200 MAH 20C - 30C 3S
Medusa 3400 on 12T
325 Pro's
+10/-10

Well the long awaited is done. All I can is wow!!!! This is a HOT SETUP also look at the current draw below...hardly anything at all and plenty of power...This is my favorite setup but does cost the most!!!

Headspeed @ 3000 & More if you choose.
Jazz ESC and Medusa 6V BEC
NEU 1107/2Y on 10T
TP Prolite 2100 4S
325 Pro's
+11/-11

Can I be the first to post here?

I just finished my SE today. Thanks for the receiver and servos Mark. I can't wait to get it outside and see if the hype on the Neu motor is true.

I've got the 305 carbons on it. I have to sand the blade grips on the 325's to get them to fit.

The Jazz controller programmed perfect on the first try. I've got IU-1 at 65% and IU-2 at 85% and there's perfect seperation between the two.

I'll have to tach it to see where I'm at headspeed wise but the 85% sounds to be about 2800. Also I have no idea where I am with pitch. I put the balls on the second hole out on the servo arms as Nabi recomended, any further and I would have had to cut back on the ATV's. Right now I'm maxed out top and bottom and hovering at 3/4 stick.

Your welcome.

I can't wait to get the DPR on the Neu motor.

I am thinking and I am no Electrical Engineer I am pushing the limits of the motor here and should probably go down 2T on the pinion.

Hopefully Nabi can shed some light on this.

motor should be ok, but the 13T seems to be putting a lot of stress on the packs from the graphs - 40 Amp draw !!!

probably need to go down 1 or 2 T's for pack longevity (if you care about that). would be interesting to measure other motors with 13T on 3S and compare the results.

4S setup would be easier on the packs (less current draw per pack) and the weight difference is not that much more, that it would make the rex fly a whole lot differently (i.e. worst).

a higher kV motor on a lower pinion might draw less Amps on 3S also ? not 100% sure about this one, but it sort of makes sense.

11T & Medusa

I am going to install the 11T pinion tonight. I should be able to have 15 min tomrrow to take some sample readings. I care about the packs so I am willing to loose to some headspeed and gain longevity.

Maybe tomorrow after work you can meet me at the 4H field. I want to take the YAK up again as well as test fly the rex.

Does the software allow you to you zoom in on the graph to determine the duration of those near 40A surges?

You can on certain parts of the graph. Does not appear you can magify the entire graph. I am still playing with the software though and not aware if there could be more potential to it. I am thinking of exporting this into Excel and creating a nice chart/graph...just been awile since I have done this though.

I got the 11T installed and will give it shot tomrrow...headspeed was tached at 2500 big difference from before with 13T which was about 3000 RPM.

The graphs above were tested with just hovering and fast collective pumps, no Tic-Tocs. I would bet if Nabi flew it again we would probably see those surges stay a little longer and everything else arise.

Hey Guys,

I'm gonna chuck the 12T or 13T on the AON tomorrow and see how that reacts to the same tests.......just to test the differences between the two motors.........We should also try different blades combonations as well to see their affect on performance.......

We have to hook up Don's to the DP tomorrow.......

Looks like today is out. Just checked the weather channel and 20 MPH winds are predicted for the afternoon!

What is it with the wind lately?

I'm up for that. I'll spring for the food as long as I don't have to cook! My grill isn't really portable either. I can bring the shop van home so I can move someones though!

Added New Graph

Added new graph to the first post.

We will be testing the Medusa 4200 motor shortly along with the Medusa 3400 on 12T and of course the Neu 1107 on 4S.

I had the Nue 1107 on 11T with 3S and was not happy with the power and did not waste my time taking mesurements. I can tell you though the Neu 1107 on 4S ROCKS but is very costly to run when you crash.

The Medusa 3400 will run on 4S with fantastic power using a 10 & 11T pinion.

If anybody is interested in the Neu on 3S we can take the measurements with Don's SE as soon as I can steal it from him From what I understand he really likes the new Trex....I hope since I forced him to purchased it

Thanks again
Mark

You didn't force me into purchasing it. You just demonstrated to me that the new SE with a proper combination of electronics is a world away from the older XL. I'm just glad I have someone local I can learn from. This electronics stuff is all Greek to me.

As far as the new graph, it looks to be a much milder combination. I think I'm going to see if I can find a 12 tooth pinion to fit the Neu shaft.
