Hi

Trying to get my new rappy 30 started. Im doing everything right, range checked, glow charger on, but when i come to start it up, im having problems.

Im finding, although iv pushed the starter wand as far as it will go in, im finding it hard to keep the wand in the starter. And hence, the starter only gets a quick chance to turn the engine over, then the wand sort of forces its way free.

Am i doing something wrong? Or should the engine be starting straight away? Do i need to apply much pressure when starting the engine?

any tips much appreciated.

thanks

So the wand won't stay in the rubber cup in the starter? I ran into this as well and my solution was to have a dedicated Heli starter by removing the aluminum cup and putting the wand directly on the shaft. Don't know your setup but my wand screwed on directly once the aluminum cup was removed.

Got Money? Send it to me, I'm a Heli Addict.

I think this one is designed for a rubber cup. Its the first time iv done it so i think it is me rather than the tools.

i had that problem too just make sure you push the extension end, or as you call it the wand, make sure its in the cup all the way my starter i had to shave off a bit from the cup before mine would fit, i finally just got a cordless drill and use that

sorted my problem. I was kneeling down at the side of the heli to do it. Found it is easy just standing over the heli to do it.

It idles nicely, however it is cutting out at a certain point on the throttle, any common reasons for this?

I have just got some advice telling me to let it idle for longer, and leave the glow plug on longer, just to get it going again. (it hasnt flown for a few weeks)

lol, just read back, and now i understand it, i dont half sound stupid before.

Anyway got it going nicely, hovered around garden and got it trimmed somewhat.

Bergen, Ill definately pay a visit. Apparantly, my tail needs setting up mechanically (although it seemed fine this afternoon), so I will probably need help with this.
