I think that you will find that most people have install the raptor 50 into the century long ranger. I am currently working on one at this time and it fits great with little modifications. I also think that the century long ranger is not as expensive as the hirobo. I have a few pictures of mine in my gallery.

I cant vouch for the Hirobo Long Ranger, but the Funkey/Century 50 long ranger was a piece of cake...................

GUYLAND,i like the gear.Did you make it .I have been getting terrible results from a hand held bender that i put in a vice and use a ratchet to crank down slowly, but i just don't get consistent bends on both sides.I wasted about $20.00 of brake line on my bell 222.
I would like to see what kind of bender you use.

55CROWNVIC,you have some serious toys.I really like your ranger.Yes you are right ,hirobo must be smoking crack. They are $230.00 more than century.Did you make your gear also?.I know i could buy some from jestrr but i am determined to make my own.I have been modeling for 25 years and only rely on others for welding.
Well, thanks for the feedback guys.

Guyland, when are you gonna have yours painted?

I am ordering my century this week, prepainted blue.I have no place to paint anymore

IF you are having problems with bending your tubes, Look at Harbor Freight for their tubbing benders. THey are black and can do 1/4",5/16", and 3/8". it has a slidding shoe that keeps the tubbing from kinking. and if you need to make a bigger bend, then you just bend a little then move it out and bend a little more!!!

I used the same tube bender that Mike is describing to you in the previous post. I looked at Mike's designs and basically copied his work. One thing that I did that helped with making straight bends was to draw a straight line down the brake line with a sharpie so that I could keep the bends in line. I also think that Mike does some type of brazing to weld his gear together. I used solder with acid core and it is very strong. I spoke with Emile (Copter Doctor) and he said that is what he does on his gear and it works great. Make sure that you take pictures of the helicopter that you are trying to replicate and pay close attention to the landing gear. Pay close attention to the bends and where they are in relation to the front veiw and side veiws of the helicopter. One mistake that I see alot of people make is they dont make the gear wide enough from the front veiw of the helicopter. Also, pay attention to the distance between the front leg and the rear leg. It is usually between the back of the front door and the fuel cap on the left side of the helicopter. What ever you do, make sure you build your landing gear as close to scale to the real helicopter gear as possible. A good looking set of landing gear can make all the difference in the world to the apperance of the model. I know that Copter Doctor and Mike Spinner make the gear for a great price, so if you get too frustrated, just contact one of those guys and they will make you a set. They both do excellent work. I am planing on painting the helicopter after the Georgia State Patrol helicopter which is blue, silver and gold. If I can help you with anything else, let me know.
