Ha!

Those Dominion 90 3D's are the Raptors of the G3 world. That's what everybody on G3 flies.

I tried to join a large G3 session last night , but I got the infamous
" failed to send player information packet " message .

At the end of the day , it gets dark .

My theory on this is that,
One guy starts a session (he has router/firewall settings which work, & has his "broadcast session to server" setting ticked), he then leaves. Someone else takes over as host (this person has a firewall setting which won't allow hosting, or hasn't got the "broadcast session to server" setting ticked), so nobody else can join the session. This probably isn't apparant to this person, except that the number of poeple in the session dwindles to just one!

The only way round this for poeple to check whether they can host, & if not making sure they don't end up becoming the sessions host (if you do, just exit & rejoin).

Too bad you tend to get such poor FPS when online ...

It's a great idea and worked much better in G2. I'm honestly surprised that the netcode in this sim can't keep up with actual flying.

My PC isn't the best , I've just stuck a second 256meg of PC2700 to bring it up to 512 meg with an XP2100+ CPU and a Ge-Force 4200ti 64 meg . Providing that the scenery isn't to complicated , ie it is better with photofields , my on-line frame rates are not too bad . I'm wondering wether it's worth sticking an Nvidia 6600 card in , or if the CPU would just cause too much of a bottle-neck to see much improvement . The motherboard (MSI KT4 Ultra) will take upto an Athlon 3000+ (333) , but as they are no longer available that doesn't help much !

At the end of the day , it gets dark .

nivlek, I've got the nVidia 6600GT and am very pleased with it! I bought a refurbished one from newegg for $135. Refurbished is the way to go... Newegg guarantees their stuff. I don't know anything about AMD processors so I don't know what speed that 333 is, but a better video card can always help. Also, I'd bump up your RAM to 1 gig.

As for the Dominions being the Raptors of the G3 world. Knife Edge is currently working on a free update that will let you import any custom models like XTR does. So soon, you'll be seeing Stratuses, Freyas, Synergies etc...

maller, there's been a lot of discussion and on the update on Knife Edge's forums and many seem to think knife edge wants to release it before Christmas. There are people who do not work for Knife Edge who have been beta testing the software for at least a month now, so, the before Christmas release date may be pretty accurate.

Go to knife edge's website and check out some of the models these guys are working on to release after the update... It's amazing.

Vince, the IP addresses are broadcast from the broadcast server. When someone is hosting, if they choose to broadcast you should see it when you're searching for a multiplayer session.

Try turning off the smoke for multiplayer, go to View & untick particles.

I find that this has quite a lot of effect, particularly when there are lots of models & some are using customised smoke.

Na screw that! I want someone to build the real Dominion 90 3D. It rocks and I can fly the holy living crap out of it.

It also will require a giant "dispencer" that dumps out another running copy everytime you stomp on the giant spacebar (or little red transmitter button on G3 nowadays). When that is all available I am gonna pull some stings with some of my CIA buddies and have them turn off the wind using the weather control sattelites. Gonna have some fun that day.

I never noticed a difference in FPS between online and single player.

I also have a theory about the not connecting problem. I bet that since the photo field update is so big some opt not to update or they simply don't know about the update and therefore those who have the update can't connect and vise versa. I also think that this theory along with the one mentioned above work together to double the trouble!

No, the Dominions tailboom is proportional to the size of the heli... The Stratus tailboom, like all other MA heli's suffers from shrinkage and engineers with bad math skills.

When that happens , I've received a different connection error relating to the host running an incompatible version of Realflight G3 rather than the " failed to send player information packet" one .

At the end of the day , it gets dark .
