What methods have been used to perfect the clamping of the windsheild inside the fiberglass shell of the canopie? Still pondering the technique.

GOOP

I use goop to install the window in the canopy. DO NOT install any screws in the window. Over time the vibration will eventually crank your window where the screws are and you start getting a hairline crank walking up your window like a broken winshield in a car. You can use electrical tape between the window and the canopy to dress it up if you like. Check out my gallery, the picture with the heli hovering in the snow on 2/26 shows a closeup of part of the canopy and the electrical tape on the edge between the window and the canopy.

Incidentally, what is this little red light you are trying to see? Inquiring minds want to know!

I am about to put the windshield in the Predator. I intend to use the "exterior mounting tape" sold by Walmart, 3M makes it. I'll just cut narrow strips and install. It is a lot grippier than common double sided tapes.

We shall see

GREYEAGLE,
Foremost makes a product that is used for mounting windows on planks. It's a thin black "U" shaped rubber piece that glues around the edge of the window material then to the canope. It looks great, a very clean finished look, plus, it keeps the windshield from cracking.

Whenever I glue anything to fibreglass, I always use PFM. It's similar to Goop, but has a thicker consistancy. It pretty much holds anything to anything.

I bonded the windshield with 3M mounting tape, and blacked over it with 1/2 wide electrical tape. For this technique to come out better one mus cut the windshield out slightly larger than normal, as it sits up a bit. Not perfect, but good enough for me. Seems to stick very well. The paint is three coats Krylon Fusion. The lower photo is the adhesive placed on the rim with some of the backing still there.
