any one run a CSM gyro on a gasser ?
I have a Bergen Intrepid Sport (belt drive tail) Gas 231 PUH, running a CSM 560 V4 + JR 8700G, all the HT is screened + PCM with no lock out/glitches.
BUT !!!
the tail on this is pooo !!!!
get 45 deg wags for no reason, mild left turns are much smoother right. response on the tail is very hit and miss.
changed rates on the Tx, but the tail is nothing like the smooth response on my 2 Raptors.
I want to fly my gasser, but I know that a crash is just round the corner with the way the tail flies at the moment.
is a Futaba 401 the answer on a gas ? I have all CSM on my other helis and I did notice today on my 30 that after 5 flights the 540 did have a little drift nose right when hovering.
I keep the helis in the house approx 18 deg amb, but put them in the car a good 5 hours before going flying, to get them normalised to outside amb temp.
help please !

Yep, yep..I know of what you speak. My belt drive Bergi and the same problem. Turned out to be static discharge from the belt drive running thru the tailboom. I grounded the tailboom to the clutch bearing block as well as the motor and shot Pledge(anti-static funiture polish) on the belt to help stop static buildup. POOF!!! Problem gone and havent seen it since. Mike
BTW I'm using a CSM 360 and love it. I havent had any other CSM's however

Dang!! Thats going to leave a mark....

Before I sold my MA gasser, I used a CSM540 and 8700G servo. This was the best setup I ever had. Super quick response. Very solid! For a while it deveoloped a slight drift, and I just put in a little trim. It was fine for the rest of the flight. Come to find out later that the damper in the clutch had gone out causeing some vibration. Which I attribute to the drift. I used two layers of soft 1/8" double side tape to mount. Gyro was front mounted just ahead of the fuel tank. Since then, the 540 w/8700G has been my "favorite gyro setup"
