We had a new member bring his completed Raptor 50 to our field today for a little help. Some guys spent alot of time assisting in the set up and checking of his machine prior to flying. Unfortunately, he can not have heard when he was told to tape his rx xtal in to the receiver. After just 30 seconds of its very first flight the xtal fell out giving the tester (not the new guy) no chance of recovery. Fortunately it was just in the hover but it did travel a while before crashing and doing a fair amount of damage. The new member went from joy in seeing his bird fly to dispair in just 30 seconds.
Thought this could be a warning to all newcomers, the rx xtal should be covered with a strong tape so it can not vibrate loose, the cosequences of not doing so are dangerous and expensive.
