Upperking

Do ya think ya could reweight that dv cam? 9 pounds isn't exactly something I'd like to carry around on vacation, much less strap to the REX.

Thanks -
<>< Jim

I must be sadistic, once the heli started wobbling like mad I started to LMAO.
Glad you didn't do much damage, you gotta be a little quicker with the throttle hold though

2500 rpms, 400 mm blades, and any body part do not mix well

At least your camera can "take a licking and keep on clicking"! Seriously, that wobble was most likely a resonating vibration from having the unusual weight of the camera added at just that position. Not to mention that 3 pounds is almost twice the weight of the heli. Thanks for sharing!

Wow, that was a cool vid! What kind of ESC and motor are you running? It's good to know that the Trex has that much lifting power.

Here's a video captured with a CVS disposable digital camcorder. I made a special mount for the front of the T-Rex that incorporates several layers of velcro to greatly reduce the high frequency vibration, which is the waviness effect seen in the above videos.

20051111-Hawks-Field

I allowed the heli to get too far away, lost orientation, and it spun in. Only broke the landing gear struts and one piece of the tail rotor assemby!

Enjoy...

Where can I find one of those 5-in-1 cams? I went to the Octave site and many others and see descriptions, but no easy way to purchase. Looks very interesting.

Thanks - <>< Jim

UpperKing: If you were refering to my video, the strange craft hovering is Dave Raines's "TriCopter". This is version two of his design. The first one had a balsa frame and cheap brushed motors. He built it to prove the theory. For version two, he used fiberglass tubing and RimFire brushless motors.

Here's a video captured this past Saturday night up at the Four Seasons Golf dome on the east side of Columbus.

Tri-Copter in Columbus Golf Dome

It has four gyros, runs on a three cell TP 2100 LiPo, and is programmed using the 120 degree eCCPM setup. I've flown it a few times. It flies like a heli, just not as nimble.
