Just wanted to hear from people that are running this frame set. Did you feel any major changes better/worse after upgrading? Does tha stock canopy fit this frame set with HS56 servos. What are the hits and misses on the frame set?

.

Thanks

I have been using this frame for a while now and overall it's a good frame for the price and you get spare parts for it easily too. The stock canopy fits for me but you just have to know how to cut it. Just be aware that you have to make some small modifications to the canopy to prevent binding at certain positions of the servo too.

The downside is primarily as follows:-

1. Lousy screw quality. Head strips too easily.
2. Plastic sometimes has the tendency to strip as well.
3. The CF used is on the thin side and the strength is not too consistent.
4. Swapping out servos can be tricky, as is the mounting.
5. HS-56 is a tight fit, but it does fit. You need to drill some holes on the servo though.
6. HS-56 doesn't center well without mods, especially the elevator.

I LOVE this frame! So much that both my trex's are fitted with it.
I've got none of the above problems, my only complaint is having to be careful with the screws holding the boom in. Hard to get them tight enough.

I also love this frame. This frame gives the heli a more solid feel when flying. Probably because of less flexing. Only problem I had was was the screw heads but had less of a problem when using my driver instead of the supplied tool.

I think the screw quality is a universal problem at this point for Align and even if you haven't stripped any, it's bound to happen eventually. As to the fitting, I hear they've improved the fit a little. Either that or these guys aren't using HS56's. The frame I got had one hole drilled per side for servo mounting. The HS56 comes with two holes per side so they don't line up. That's what I meant by the need to drill an extra hole to get your HS56 mounted.

I have examined the silver frame and I don't know if it's my imagination or the bling factor, but it appears that the silver CF material is more solid than the black CF (tends to be a bit flaky). You really need to look at one yourself to judge this but IMO the silver CF is of higher quality than the black CF. I've not snapped a piece of the silver to compare though (I have done so with the black CF).

To elaborate on the swapping out. The hardest servo to change would be the lower aileron servo. This is because it is blocked by the upper one and both need to be installed from the inside of the frame in order to get the best line-up for the control rods. Consequently, when you want to take it out, you need to remove the top servo as well, or work it out from underneath. Furthermore, the retaining plastic nuts they give can be hard to position. It's no big deal but can be a hassle and doesn't allow for a quick swap out.
