Had this a few times now.... hovering in the family room...starts to get a little close to the coffee table, chop the throttle and land a little hard.
When I power back up again, it takes a lot less throttle to get airborne!.
Headspeed is noticeably lower, yet flies just fine.
Next time I have a hard landing, it takes a lot more power to get it to hover.
This has been happening a lot.
Any ideas?

Sounds like somthing is happening with your pitch curve IMHO. Check to see if you pitch changes when you land hard if you can shut it down and measure you pitch points. Does it return to normal the next time you fly?

well, I'm having trouble figgering out which is normal.... Put the sym. blades on, higher head speed, flew just fine. Had a hard landing, started again, and found that I didn't have to use as much throttle to get hovering... this has happened a lot, both with flat bottom and syms....hmmmmm.

I think the hard landings have somthing to do with it. Its almost like for example your pitch servo or throttle servo loose there center point or a minor ajustment happens. I would do the following; measure your pitch at hover stick when the heli is running fine. Next hard landing shut it down and take a pitch measure at the same point and see if its changed. You may also want to track were your throttle was at that pitch point. This might help you track down if there is a change in your "mix" and help you narrow down if its a pitch arm or servo issue or somthing else.

Sticky collective

I always thought it was a sticky collective thing. After I smack the helicopter into something it loosens it up. Either moves past a slight bend or frees some sort of binding. Just a thought.

Good thought Nate. Check to make sure everything flows smooth and there is no binding.
