What needles are you calling mid and high? Some more info would help, pipe, fuel, plug, gear ratio, how new is the engine. They all seem to tune different, have you checked to see if the engine is cool, warm or hot. I would not try to tune the engine with the governor on either. Chris

What governor? If it is the TJ Pro then it won't engage until you reach the target RPM via your throttle curve(s). Also, if it is the TJ, you can't trust the numbers obtained from any chart or calculator.

Set high (the SHORTER one) to 5/8 or 3/4.

The rest are perfect.

Trust me on this.

It's a plug and play engine and those settings are either right on, or damn close (damn close if maybe you're using different fuel among the other, many variables).

Try the Jason Krause settings at the above link.
The hi neelde is the short one, the middle is the long one and the low is the secrew.
I´m using a Hatori #937, Cool Power 30, Enya #3 glowplug, gear ratio 8.45, and the Jason setting are perfect. Almost the same found at the instructions manual.
I´m used to touch the blackplate to check the temperature but I found a strange behavior with the YS91.
When you lean the high needle, the backplate keeps a low temp and the head not.
Don´t forget to keep the governor off during the break-in and the temperature between 90 and 100 degrees (Celsius)

Just a quick question, did you set the right gear ratio on the governor(GV1)?

Don't just lean the high speed needle to 3/4, go a few clicks at a time, watch the smoke and be careful the mid may need to be opened a few clicks. Magnum is a top contender for the most smoke keep that in mind. 1800 puts the engine at 15210, 1750=14787rpm., I would think about what rpm you want to run the new engine at. The temperature check depends on how fast you check the engine and where, outside temperature, air density how much load you put on the engine and for how long ect.,all change the outcome. Chris
