Like everyone else, I was bummed when the weather turned towards winter. But like always, I try to make the most of it. We installed a set of skis on our Hanger 9 Arrow trainer last year and had a blast. Here's what I've done for this year:

The skis are made by DuBro. I only had to bore two holes in each ski so that the skids would slide through. I also installed a thin piece of carbon fiber rod between them to keep them from twisting.

Snow? Bring it on!

If you are asking me - then no, never snows in San Jose.

Grew up in Colorado and still have lots of family I visit regularly - lots of snow there.

Lets get back to the main topic...

They do keep the heli on top of the snow. I've had those skis hanging on my workshop wall for over a year. I won them at one of our club events. The thought occured to me one night to see if they fit the T-Rex. Amazingly, they were the perfect size. I didn't even have the trim the length. If there's a hard crust on the top of the snow, they're not needed. I'm always up for trying something different, so what the heck!

I got in a few flights last weekend. There was about 5 inches of snow on the ground. I had the cam mounted for the first flight:

Heli Snow Fly

I removed the cam and put the canopy on for the second flight. The skis worked great!
