Well can you and how much does it cost?

2500 rpms, 400 mm blades, and any body part do not mix well

Align made the strecth kit for $34 if somebody has it on stock.

That will get you to the XL size, but the other components will not be up to par.

You are better off buying a new XL.

helikraft.com has it for $188 (with the 420LF motor AND the 25A ESC) less the variable discount which is up to 10.5%

cant you still do some good 3d with that 420lf 25 esc combo?(helikraft.com) it seems like if you want to do 3d you need a bigger motor that pulls more amps because most helis have a 35 esc on them.....

If you are a very advanced pilot, you may be better with a stonger motor, a different combo or store.

For me it is still more than I can handle.

Your decision...

The main difference between X & XL, apart from boom/blade size, is that the mixing arms and elevator mech have more bearings. I bought a 450X last year as my 1st heli, and learnt to fly it quite easily. If you're just starting out, you're gonna be crashing quite a bit anyway! So why not upgrade to the metal parts when you break the plastic stuff!

I have'nt broken or bent any of the Align metal parts yet.
If you buy an XL you're still gonna be breaking plastic and wanting metal, so I would go with the cheaper of the two.
Unless money is NOT an issue, in which case get the SE and save the time and effort upgrading!

For about 97.00 bucks you can get the new Align 430L motor and 35G amp ESC combo which would be a great improvement.

Like Chugga-bug said, if you upgrade to the xl plastic parts they will break in a crash. The only things you really need are the strech kit(longer boom, belt) and metal swash, headblock, flybar assembly, and washout assem.
