It's been posted several times about how easy the heatsink falls off this Align ESC. I just got one and of course it popped off with very little pressure.
Searched but couldn't find any posts about people running without the heatsink. Is this an option?
How much heat transfer will you actually get through the heat shrink and adhesive tape anyways...
I've read that people cut the heatshrink off and stick the heatsink directly on the ESC. Since I haven't run this ESC/Motor combo yet I'd like to know if this is even necessary, does it get hot enough to even need the heatsink?
Oh, and this will be used with the Align 430L motor, 13T pinion, 3S.

You definitely need the heatsink in the align ESC.

Remove and then reinstall directly in contact with the metal. You may want to use heat conducting paste (the one that comes with the CPUs now a days) or just put it back and then cover with heat shrink, and then cut the excess heat shrink and maximize the exposed area.

Roger's Law: If it is worth doing it, it is worth exceeding it.
