After screwing in the bolts to fasten the tail blade holders to the hub, I find that there's about a millimeter of in-and-out play, i.e. the blade holders can be pulled out about a mm, exposing about 1mm of the inner bearing (i.e. the one closest to the center of the hub, part 2919).

I'm sure that I have screwed the special screws (part 0911 with washers) completely.

The tail blade holders came assembled (i.e. thrust-bearings and c-clips in place). Could it be that something is missing on BOTH assembled units? As far as I can tell, everything's there.

What's wrong here?

Hi Bonkers,

this is not a bug - it's a feature.
Don't worry about, this is normal. The force during the rotation of the rotor gives the holders the right position. Almost every helisystem I know does it this way.

Another question....

My Ion-X doesn't have this play. To be totally honest, I haven't seen it on any of my helis. What is the advantage of it?

Also, it appears as though one blade holder has slightly more outward play than the other, and I'm concerned that the tail rotor as a whole will be unbalanced....and that I'll have to adjust the balance with the blades.

only one of my tail grips does it,actually,it can cause a vibration if the other grip does not extend outward the same amount as the loose one.it's common to find this on all heli's,you need to have a play around with the grips and the bearings,to get them to seat right,it's not hard and nothing drastic is required.

all comments are my opinion only!
