I'm having problem with my ESC, Align 35G and the Thermal protection. My setup is 450 TH, 4S, and auxiliar BEC. In hot days, about 2 or 3 minutes of fly, the ESC cut off. My ESC is on left, outside the main frame. Is better I move to behind main gear or better place?

I have no problem with the ESC on the outside of my TRex. You should find someone with a tester to check your motor amps. You may also need to recheck your pitch settings. The only time I have had problems with my speedy is when I have been too lazy to check the pitch settings after a rebuild. You only need +10/-10 deg (max.). I run a 400DH (4200kv) motor with a 25 amp Pheonix speed controller on an Align 2000mAh Li-Po.

I had problems at first with the align 35 cutting out on me after a couple of minutes of flight because it was getting hot, when iI first got it, running a jgf 400 and tp's batteries, changed the settings on the esc to 6 pole motor, and never had a problem again, the align 35 runs cool now.Hope this helps

Free the heat sink up as much as you can, or if the newer version, you may want to remove the heat sink and reinstall directly in contact with the metal after removing heat shrink cover.

My 25 amp Align was cutting off after getting too hot also. I raised the Throttle curve to 100% all across in Idle one, now it barely gets warm. I forget who told me to do that, but it was somebody here.

I tried to put in underneath, and it got hotter than in the side.

May be the airflow IS better on the side. The gear fan may actually be blowing more on the edge of the fan, and that is the place where the ESC is when you put it on the side.

I put mine on the side as well like this:

In addition to better cooling, I can also plug/unplug the battery with canopy attached.

I have a couple. They just seem to multiply. Don't really want to count how many because wife will start adding up the costs. So they are scattered around the house.

Yes those are Futaba 3108. wires and servo horns are too short so I replaced them with HS56.

I have my ph25 out the side, the wiring holds it up. This way i get cooling from any movement and in hover .
