Has anyone used the new Thunder Power lipo cell balancer, AND if so, were you able to tell any noticable difference ? Is it only good for packs or cells that have been abused and over-drained, or is it intended for any/all packs to insure a full charge and to keep them in good shape ?
Sorry if this has already been covered elsewhere....if so, just point me to the thread or link.
Thanks...

The point of the balancer is to keep the pack in good shape. I used them on new packs and sometimes I find they’re unbalance. In combination with a good charger you can squeeze a lot of cycles out of a pack.

Does the balancer also improve flight times or battery duration ?

I have a TP205 and it can make a big difference if the pack was out of balance. I had an old Gen2 pack that was out of balance and I did not even realize it until I got the balancer – now it has more power and flight time.

If a battery pack is in balance then the balancer will just report the number of cells and do no balancing. The thing is that you never know when a pack is starting to go out of balance. I have even heard stories of new packs (not TP) that were out of balance. If you use an out of balance battery you run the risk of damaging a cell. If it is really bad out of balance it could catch fire during charging!

IMHO its the best ~$50 you can spend... I've only had one battery go WAY out of balance. But it was satisfying watching the TP 205 bring it back to normal. (it was a brand new pack).

I use the balancer with all types of packs (just just TP brand).. It normally costs me about $4 to make an adapter for a different manufacturer.

Do you need it? no... but it will save your packs an early death.. and for me its another 'safety net' in my lipo routine.
