Want a good battery for a 90 heli all digitals, TJ pro, and GY611. I would like to find something that will give a good amount of fling time and won't break the bank.

What servo's are you running? I hear that if you run all 9252's then you can get 4 flights our of a 2800mah Nicad

Otherwise go for Li-Ions

check out http://www.battlepack.com

get anything made you want.

get a nice 3000ma nicad for $30ish, or a 3800ma nimh for $40ish.

why no lithiums? because of the price?

when i go to lipo's i want to do all at once. I amchecking if there is anything that is new that might make me hold off on the lipo's. Batt, regulators, load checker, and charger for three can hurt the pocket book.

gotcha. i agree, once you go lithium you will be VERY unhappy with the performance of any nicad or nimh battery.

im going to try these cells out myself. i have a heli that i use for "training" and i dont want a $200 battery system on it. so $40 packs are livable. get 2 pack's and that should keep ya going, charging one while using the other. im running 4/3 au cells 4000ma from radical rc, which are nice but getting a tad old and i need the sub c size for balance.

IB3800U NIMH Sub C 22g wire w/ futaba connector, then flat or brick layout.

Do you know the difference between LiPo and LiIon? Not trying to be a smart@ass, just trying highlight the difference between LiPo and LiIon and why IMHO LiIon are a safer choice for RX batteries.

I just switched to LiIon and I'm happy with them. I'm using a complete Fromeco setup.

Hey,

I've recently moved onto Duralite's, they are fantastic!!!!! It takes a little more ££$$ to get setup with Duralites because you have to buy the specific charger and tester and the batteries cost a little more and also the added cost of the regulator but they are worth it.!!!! BUT once you have bought all the equipment you don't have to buy it again only batteries and regulators.

If you not wanting to go to the expense at the moment the i would lokke at the highest capacity nicad you can find, i think 2400Mah is the largest in nicad form (Not 100% though) next choice is to go with Nimh cells, these are available in higher capacities like 3300Mah and 3600Mah. I have been using all these battery packs in 4 cell formation for years with no problems but with high drain installation they don't last very long at the field.

Cheers!

Also just changed to Duralite's, was a toss up between Lipo's and Duralites but in the end I just did not like the fear of doing some thing wrong in charging the Lipo and coming back to a 100% carbon heli mess on the floor, smoldering away
Also using the higher voltage packs ie Lipo or duralite, means you can use the voltage to use silly high spec servos like the Kopro 2123. (maybe for future thought ?)

Nicads are good as you can charge them at the field reasonably fast when needed, with most cheap chargers that are around.
Duralites you can not easily charge at the field nor fast charge, but the amount of flights you can get on one charge should last more than a good days flying TBH.

Before I changed to Duralites I was using 4 cell 2400mAh RX packs like everyone else, very successfully.
This was on my R90 with digi servos, and I was getting 3 flights before a re charge, and that always kept me with about 1000mah left in the packs.

Ryan.

I like the safety features that LiIon have that LiPo's do not. It's explained here:

That is what i want do was looking for cheaper option. Duralites or not lipo, I thought they were. They must be Lilon. Is that why they cost a little more than some others.

duralites recently started offering lipo's. coming from them, and using their charger i would definately sleep well at night(not with any battery charging; figure of speech) using them.

they have the same safe circuit stuff, and redundancy packs etc. they may be a tad pricey, but your paying for their warranty which is BEYOND top notch.

i dont want to start a product war, but ive never heard anything bad about duralite. unfortunately i have read differently about fromeco. on this note however, i do plan on using their az. reg, and trying their batteries, but i will do so at my own risk and not expecting anything.
