Well guys.............
I quit my engineering job at Stingray boats, sold my house, moved to the beach, bought another house, and am doing the AP thing full time.
I have been here for about 3 months and so far it is the best thing I have done for me and my Family in Many Many years......
But ask me in 6 months!!!

Congrats Brett....

I hope I am not too far behind you.

Funny how your priorities in life change after kids.

In just the last year I realized I have been working way too much for somebody else and missing out on a lot of stuff with my family...

Now if I could just stop spending the money that somebody else is giving me I would be doing great.

I t was a difficult decision to make, but like you said I was VERY tired of working for "the man"
I went from a 3000 sq ft house to a 1400 sq ft house, got rid of a lot of bills etc...
But the end result is the quality of my and my families life seems to be much better now.
Forgot to mention my wife quit her job as a 2k teacher/daycare person, so we "lost two" jobs but again, so far it has worked out nicely!

Brett,
Congrats to you. Being your own boss is very rewarding for the family man that can keep his priorities straight. I've been my own boss for several years and can honestly say it's the best decission I ever made. It has enabled my wife and I to be there for out two kids 24/7. I will offer you the following hard learned pieces of advise, 1. do not spend too much effort chasing the "big whale" accounts...while they may be great paying accounts they will tie up too much time and they set sail when you least expect them too. Instead find the quick easy jobs that are large in volume. it's better to have 10 2K jobs than 1 20K job....trust me it took me several years to believe that, but it's true. 2. Research your market's spending cycle.(know your slow season/pizza months) and budget accordingly..

Just some suggestions.....again I wish you the best and may this holiday season be especially happy!

regards
Anthony

Geeze! I'd just like to be able to stick my tongue out at him once in a while!

3000 sq. ft. house to 1400? Wow! That had to be a pretty big change. All kiddin' aside Brett, I admire your confidence and courage! Wish you and your family all the luck!

Well done!
I'm going down the same path as well with MY job as an engineer too.......
My partner is sick of her job, and does photograpy as a hobby, so she is the camera operator and me the 'd**k behind the sticks'...

Cheers Rhyno

Yeah I had 3 yard sales over the past 3 months and took over $5000 dollars worth of stuff to the Salvation Army!! Cloths, rugs, dishes....etc....
I liked my other house but 3 floors, plus a 1500 sq/ft shop to maintain was to much. Plus having to pay for it. We sold our house for a good profit which afforded us to be able to do what we are doing now!!!
It is a risk but a worthy one I believe.

Brett,
Congratulations, I wish you all the best. The more people that present the professional side of AP and hence R/C to the general public the better.

Nice, and congratulations. My wife and I are embarking on the same adventure in a few months. We sold our house here in California and are moving to Tennessee to make a run at our business full time.
