Hi all

This probably has been discussed before but I want to change my standart lower frames for the carbon ones.

I already have the carbon frames. I know I will need a fan shroud, spacers and a couple of L spacers?
What quantity will I need and does anybody have the parts number handy? (aka MrNoodle )

Is this all I need? Maybe a one piece metal block would be beneficial no? What about screws and etc? will the standart ones that I'm using right now do the job?

One last question:

Is it possible to upgrade the upper frames too? The only way I know is to upgrade to the Avant which is full carbon but I would like to have my Freya as is but just no plastic on it
I know I know... having all carbon is more harmfull than beneficial since there need to be a week spot somewhere... but its sooo beautiful

Any input is welcome offcourse

Cheers
Tony

Here's a link to a diagram of the parts you need.

CarbonXtreme has several of the parts that go in that conversion.
upper frames.
Lower frames
26 mm spacer
17 mm spacer
7 mm spacer

Hi Agusto

Thx for the answer. I didn't knew CX made upper carbon frames too. Sounds awesome. The only problem I see is... $180 for two tiny carbon frames? Thats sick man

About the conversion itself seems like I will need about 22 x spacers + 1 x fan shroud + 2 L spacers and a bunch of screws

I hope I got that right

Cheers
Tony

Actually that tiny frame is a set of two 400mm long frames and they are the longest frames we make. It's also very wasteful as far as how much material is wasted when cut. The hirobo price is higher and the reason is probably also because of the geometry not lending itself to much yield.

If you are going to spend a couple a hundred buck son carbon frames, why not spend some more on an AVANT upgrade.

Ok, I didn't know that. Thx for pointing that out

Well... there are several reasons why I wasn't considering a Avant upgrade:

1. Even if the price is more than fair, any comercial package outside of the EU will be charged by customs and mine are pissed off at me right now... on my last order I paid 300% taxes I can't imagine how much a Avant Kit would cost me

2. I have a brand new Arizona heli canopy... It would be sooo sad not being able to use it with the Avant. Here is a pic:

3. I have done TONS of upgrades and some of them are probably incompatible (not used) with the Avant Kid... another waste of money

4. I got some fairly cheap xpec carbon frames and would hate to get rid of them or not giving them use

So I hope you understand my dilema

Cheers
Tony

Actually that doesn't stick anymore... the latest trend was $100US = $100 HK... it was good while it lasted

I already have the side frames... its the upper carbon frames I would like to have... and the fittings for the lower.

It seems though that if I sum up all the parts its going to be expensiver than buying an Freya EX... DUH.

Augusto: Any chance of fitting the standart canopy on a Avant without cutting the hell out of it?

Cheers
Tony

Nesting

Hi Augusto

Do they not use nesting techniques (cramming in smaller shapes) to use as much as possible out of the blank? Some CAD software allow to do this automatically.
