I know people have been using CC or Phoenix ESC's for their voyager.But i wonder if you could say use a Hacker with an Align ESC which are normally packaged with one the T-rex's combo. kits rated at 25 A or 35 A ,since these are significantly cheaper.

The ESC will work however it is underrated for use on the VE. If you're going to push it at all, you'll find yourself either having the ESC cutout (over current protection), or cook. The VE can pull well over 50 amps when you're tossing it around.
