Here's a fire that was caused by a heli (picture 6 posts down):

http://www.runryder.com/helicopter/...ghlight=mangled

I agree though, definitely very unlikely
Wow, that's the first i've seen like that. I'll bet it was the batteries shorting out on the crash that caused the fire, not heat from the engine!

Definitely some good pictures in the link. It amazes me what these models can take and still be rebuilt sometimes!

I don't think it's too hard to understand the woman's reaction. I've had similar things happen to me on two occasions. But they didn't call the police they just drove up to take a closer look. I saw the large RC Rotortech 206 fly and even knowing it had to be a model it made me do a double take.

We had an R30 go up in flames after the clutch exploded this summer.
Burned a good 10 ft circle of grass out in our field.. It didn't take but a few guys stomping on the ground and a couple 20oz bottled waters to put it out though. Luckily they had just cut it for hey. A week earlier, and it would have hit in about 4ft high dried grass! Now that could have gotten interesting. We did however build a box for the fire extinguisher and moved it and the first aid kit from inside the mower shed to the rx ch board. Made us realize that we needed to be able to get to the stuff faster and easier just in case. So I know it happens! I just doubt it happens often enough to call 911..lol

Anyway, ask Billy Z about that one if you want!

yes yes, i was using this old raptor to test out some older electronics i had to see if they would be fit for some future applications when all of a sudden down goes the heli due to faulty electronics (good thing i was using an old heli to test out those electronics that ended up bad anyways!) and the os50 hyper goes wide open and turns the clutch and bell into molten metal and catches the tank on fire and ohh man very scary, almost ruined the hobby for me i just about quit after that because i realized how one little problem can take away your whole bird. KEEP A FIRE EXTINGUISHER ON HAND AT ALL TIMES IT JUST MIGHT SAVE YOUR HELI NOT TO MENTION YOUR FLYING FIELD!!!!

Billy,
I have talked with jkru a few times via PM`s before.
He is a nice guy... And he is some what local to us also.
So maybe we will get to meet him and fly helis together next summer!
I think it was just a misunderstanding..

jkru,
I promise we wont set your heli on fire if you come fly with us!
