I had my T-rex set up and flying great. I just reassembled it after a minor crash and now the tail wants to piroette counter-clockwise when I spool up.

T-rex 450 XL
420LF
CC35
GY401
HS-50
TP2100
Full Align Bling

Belt Tension is good
No stripped gears
Main rotor spinning clockwise
Tail rotors spinning counterclockwise
Gyro is initializing
No binding in the tail

Full right rutter won't even stop the piroette

Any thoughts would be very helpful

Thanks

Check your hover pitch and head speed -

The Trex tail is a pain if the head speed is too low

1.headspeed too low...
2.your ball ends on the tail rotor control set are too tight causing the spindle stay to bind in one direction. look at the tail rotor control set and make sure you have no bind in either direction. even a small bind will cause this.
3. unplug chan 5 on receiver if not 1 or 2 and try.
hope that helps a little... usually headspeed is too slow.

I had the same problem after rotors striking tail boom. Somehow the rotation direction dip switch had changed on the 401. Reversed that and all was well.

Make sure belt drive pulley is not loose. Hold your main rotor and see if you can spin the tail rotor. It should not be able to spin.

You havnt by any chance fitted a new (different) tail servo have you?
I swapped my tail servo once, and exactly what you are describing happened to my T-Rex...I didnt realise that different makes of servo could operare in oposite directions, all that was required was to reverse the gyro...problem solved.

All your responses have given me a few ideas to check over. My last crash damaged the boom and actually knocked the gyro off its mount (no other damage observed). I'll have to check the directional switch. It also broke the hs50 servo case apart. I just ordered a new servo (same kind). The only other thing I changed was the blades. I went from the 325's to the 315's. I don't know what would have slowed my headspeed. It was working fine with the pitch and throttle setting I have. I would think the smaller blades would increase headspeed.

who knows your gyro could be just pooched now as well. Kocking it off its mount doesen't sound like a minor crash to me but heh, lol. Ok good luck to you and be well.

There isn't much of a mounting surface on the T-rex for the gyro. I mount mine above the boom at the rear of the frame. The crash was what I would consider minor. I landed the heli in low cut field grass. When I went to take off again the landing gear got caught on a weed or something. The heli tipped over and blades struck the ground and boom.
