Quick question for those of you using the throttle jockey pro and a 9303. I understand the setup of plugging it into the gear and then enabling the GOV function. My question is, can you turn the TJ Pro on and off with the gear switch? I want a different rpm for each flight mode, but able to turn it off with the gear switch too. Any info appreciated.

If you choose to use the GOV function, the gear switch does nothing to effect the governor. To have a different speed in different flight modes, use the GOVERNOR menu. If you want to have the governor OFF in any flight mode, just set it to "0".

In the DEV. SELECT menu, you can enable additional flight modes if the basic 3 don't give you enough flexibility for different governor settings.

I would like to have different head speeds for N, ST1 and ST2, but be able to turn the gov on or off with a different switch. I remember my GV-1 could be turned on and off with a switch, then set to the flight mode, how can I do this with the TJ Pro?

Have you actually tried the GEAR switch to see if it'll turn it off. I'm about 90% certain that it won't, but I've never tried it. I don't have my radio or manual in front of me, either.

I understand what you're trying to do. Try setting the ATV for the GEAR channel to 100% for one position and 0% for the other. Do this AFTER all the setup and calibration is complete. That may make it function like and on/off switch for the governor.

FWIW: I don't run multiple head speeds. ST1 and ST2 are identical, except that only ST2 has the governor enabled. Once I'm staisfied with engine tuning, etc I switch into ST2 to use the governor. I realize this doesn't help you, I just thought I'd point out an example of a way to set it up.

I called Kurt and he was not sure how to do it, and will try it this evening, but he did say that the gear has to be 100/100 all the time. Surely someone knows how to do it.

I'm running two GV-1's and I tried a TJ. I couldn't find out how to do it. With the GV-1 I was able to use the AUX 2 three way switch to set one off and two different head speeds. I can use those in any flight mode I wish.

You could create a program mix to mix out the governor's channel against itself. You may or may not be able to use the gear switch to activate the mix. Even so, another switch would surely work.

Well, if I have to I will set it up this way. N will be setup with no gov, ST-1 just like N but with gov on, and ST-2 for 3D

To be able to turn the TJ off you must use a p.mix instead of the Gov. function. Set the mix for Aux4 to Gear, I used Mix1, this will allow you to set the head-speed with the flight mode switch. Point 6 on the mix will be F. mode N, point 3 will be F. mode 1, point 0 will be F. mode 2, set all other points to INH. Next you will need to set up a mix for the gear switch, I used Mix6, set it for Gear to Gear with pos0 set to -100% on top and 0% on bottom. Next in the Tavel Adj. screen set the Gear channel for +100% and -0%.

RCSpeed, thanks, thats a great help. Do you still plug the TJ into the gear channel?and do you calibrate the TJ in this configuration?and do you cycle the gear switch or flight mode switch? Last question you just adjust the points on the curve for the rpm, correct? Are all the #s positive on the curve?

Yes, you plug it into the gear channel.
and do you calibrate the TJ in this configuration?
I think you will need to calibrate before you set up the Mix6 and before you cut the atv on the gear channel. You would then cycle the gear switch to enter and exit calibration.
Last question you just adjust the points on the curve for the rpm, correct?
Yes adjusting the mix % will change the speed.
Are all the #s positive on the curve?
I think 50% is off for the gov., so any value above or below will work. I use above 50%.

I used the setup for 8103 in the instructions, as an example, and then modified them a little.

I'm assuming if you do this you are then not using the GOV function. Am I correct?

Correct!

Also with this set up you can have cyclic to throttle mixing enabled when the gov. is in the off position
