I did an SE conversion on my xcell gasser. I wanted to use a JR 8101 servo that I had on the aileron position, but none of the xcell "double ball" screws included in the kit would work properly. Of the 2 screws that came with the kit, the JR type screw was too large to fit and the futaba syle srew was too thin. So I just used a spare futaba 9304 servo that I had in the meantime while I ordered some 9252's. I flew it with the 9304 and it flew fine. Well the 9252's came in today. i swaped out the 9304's for some 9252's and ran into the same problem. None of the xcell special servo arm screws would screw in. The futaba specific screw went in but would not tighten. I could just pull out the screw. The JR specific screw was too thick. The screw on ball's on the aileron servo arm, as you all know is for the collective. You think I could drill the screw hole on the brand new 9252 to accept the JR screw. Or is there any other alternatives. thanks..

It depends on which version of the SE you went with. I assume you went with the newer version (99), which has the collective servo in a seperate metal tray that moves with the collective. If that is the correct version, you may have to look around for a servo ball that a self tapping screw. The two that come in the SE are designed for metal gear servos and it would not be a bad idea to put that type of servo in that position as there is a lot of stress on those two balls. When I built my SE I ran into the same problem with the JR 8231's that I was going to use, so I took the 8311's out of my turbine and swaped them with the 8231's. If by some slim chance you used the old style that is similar to the 1005 gasser, then you can use the 0596F kit to upgrade and I have a brand new 0596F kit for sale.
Good Luck,
Jim

I just saw in your gallery that you have the 99 SE conversion so you either need a metal gear servo (JR 8311 works great on the collective) or a two ball with a self taping screw.

Actually that ball with the threads that are too large will thread into a plastic output gear with no problems. I would use an output gear that has not had a self tapping screw already installed so that the threaded ball will cut the threads new. I have never had this method to fail.
