I started with an 11 tooth but after a few flights went to the 13 tooth. Seems better with the 13 tooth.

430LF Pinion....

It depends how many Li-Po cells you are planning to use.

Since the motor has a 3.2mm shaft you probably can't go below 10 teeth.

I am using a 430L with an 11 tooth pinion and a 4-cell TP-2100 Pro-lite.
Seems to work fine but still have to test outdoors.

My Neu MH3500 with also a 3.2mm shaft also has an 11 tooth pinion and similiar power.....worked fine outdoors today. Just had a problem with the tail not holding well due to the excessive torque at high pitch/throttle.

I also started with an 11 tooth running on 3s pro lites. Just changed it to a 13 tooth yesterday. First impressions with this setup seem good but its tooooo cold to stay outdoors very long.

11t for the beginner, 13t for basic aerobatics and 3D.

As I am a getting a T-Rex for Christmas I have really been sold on the 430 but I don’t really need all of that power because I am not really in to 3D. Is the 430 still a good choice say with the 11T pinion? They are basically the same price as the 420 so I thought what the heck get the 430.

A 430L with a 11t or 12t pinion would be just right for sport flying and basic aerobatics like loops and rolls.

I think it is more efficient then the other Align motors - a newer and better design!

Gary (Horn),
Did you notice any difference in your flight times between the 11 or 13 T pinion?
Have the 430L w/11T but plan on woodies, so wanted to keep headspeed down. Have to ck this weekend what I'm getting now.
Should have the new 'pro' woodies to try by then, LHS just got them in.

Hi,

I've got a dilemma for my almost built Trex : I've got the choice between the 420LF(3200kv) motor and the 430LF (3550kv), and the classical 11T and 13T pinions.

as my lipos are not the best one can find (1800mAh, 10C), I'm wondering which setup would draw the less current : 420LF with 13T, or 430LF with 11T ?

Also, how would timing setting on the ESC affect power / amp draw / efficiency ?

thank in advance

Julien

Hi Julien,

Before buying my 450TH (with TP2100 Pro Lite 15C), I flew my T-Rex with TP2100 Gen2 (10 or 12C?), 420LF, 13T pinion and 320mm SAB blades. Lipo pack was warm after the flight.
Probably your battery's capacity will be too little for this setup.

Does anyone carry a 12T pinion for a 3.2 mm shaft? Seems like a good compromise.

Anyone ever try this one,

It is for a 1/8” shaft. 3.2mm = 0.1259843 Should fit.

hi,

I did the maiden flight of my Trex this we, with the 420LF, 13T pinion, 315 woodies.

after 5mins hovering, the batt was barely warm, and I had to put back 550mAh in it, which means an average consumption of 6.6A, which seems quite correct to me.

Now I'll have to watch how the batteries behave during FFF.

gary,
have an align 430L w/11T pinon and TP 2100,
headspeed around 1890-1900 in hover, 2100 full power
motor ran about 130F, ESC 110F & batt. 90F
looks good for duration, 13T for the headspeed
also, was with the new 315 grey woodies

The ECO pinions are nice looking and seem better than the align. They are also three times as expensive (around $5 each)
