ok, somebody is bane me.
i have a lot of problems if you remember my last post
http://www.runryder.com/helicopter/t215664p1/
and finaly after a lot of hours i solved the problem.
today i was make some test flights with all of equipment (helicam setup) and take some video. everything its ok no vibes only just smooth flight. on the spur of the moment when i was in a standy hover my tail is going out!! because isn't the field level (i was flying on one moutnain) i can't make normal auto.
anyway everything is crash.
finaly when i was collection the parts i saw something strange. the tail isn't take out from the place but is broken in the air the Tail rotor hub part no 101/13.
im sure for this because when the tail is going on in the air and before the heli crach, my friend told me : i saw something is hop there! (in the other side of mountain when it crash) at the moment believe is just lose my tail but when i found the tail with the broken part of tail rotor hab...
the second scenario i was make in my mind is the tail bash in the stabilizer and then is broken but i have no damage tail blades and no damage the stabilizer.
very strange. the result the tail rotor hub broke in the air.
i have never crash before this heli and never took the tail. all the parts its new.

have you ever seen this problem?
or im realy bane?

here is some pics

Guys: These seem to be hapening more and more, here is a link to another failier http://www.runryder.com/helicopter/f78p1/ It looks like the metal in the hub's and bolts may be due to stress from constantly being pulled and bent back and forth, just a thought, maybe these high speed servo's and gyros are correcting so much and so fast that they are the cause of the fatigue.. Sorry for your crash man, good luck.
Sincerely, Brian

Is it possible that the tail case came loose in the holder and rotated into the tail fin? I've seen that happen a time or two.

Was the tail box still tight in the mount after your crash?

I have been flying Vario's for over 9 years and I have never seen a tail failure like this.

Looking at the photos it looks like this damage was caused by the rotating tail (maybe also engine still reving) hiting the ground Look at all the dirt on the tail.... the tail obviously hit the ground!!

the dirty comes after the crash.
the tail hub broke in the air without hit in the ground before take off.
and isn't rotating because its still tight and the tail fin too.

I find it impossible to believe that you instantaneously lost both blade grips in flight. If you lost one in flight then the forces produced would have bent the tail output shaft!!
I still think that tail hit something.
Have you got a photo of the rest of the damage to the heli?

This tail is used on all Vario machines from 50 to 91 glow, petrol, turbine, their scale helis and their 3D helis. There is nothing wrong with this tail.

Reason for your failure???? I think there is more to it than just component failure!

Myself and Vario Germany have come to the same conclusion which Dave has come to. Both ends appear to have been sheared from the heli when the tail came in contact with something immovable. I still have in stock the 6 original hubs i ordered last year for inventory.

could it be....

That he assembled the bearing in the wrong order or used more washers and when he tighten the bolt used more torque than need.
This could prematurley crack the assembly and be prone to failure?

Just another idea.

Hard to say since the ends of the hub are 6mm. I don't think it was over torqued.

A thought for the day.

We know from a previous thread that Bill was running the engine well rich and thus had some severe vibration issues. Could it be that the vibration has caused a weakening of the tail rotor components, leading to the flight failure ?

Philip Martin.
