I just got two Align 450XL fiberglass canopies and they don't fit the SE. The canopies seems to be too short and the retainer holes are about 14mm out of line. It's impossible to make them fit with out drastic modification or they will self distruct. Am I the only one that has had this problem or won't the 450XL canopy fit the SE.
As they are from Align I assumed that they would fit properly, was I wrong again?

Solution:

You need to trim the bottom part of the canopy. Don't be shy in doing so. Mine fits great. Don't force it in, it will crack. I will try posting some pics of my Fiberglass canopy.

Titan520, as you pointed out, I found that they can be modified to fit as you stated. I was just wondering if the SE carbon frame was different from the standard plastic frame. If they are the same than you would think the canopy should fit without having to be modified. I have two canopies and they are both somewhat different. One comes a little closer to fitting than the other, but both are wrong for the SE.

The frame on the SE is a bit wider than the plastic.. Base is much wider on the SE or the Align CF frames. I cut 2 small triangles where the canopy contacts the frame's base. hard to explain.. I haven't been able to get some pics lately but will post soon.

The illustraion bellow shows the bottom section of the canopy. Once slid onto the the heli it will go over the landing gear, covering the frame base where battery is mounted.

Where "-" denotes open space on your canopy

don't mind eh * mark, i can get the lines to align where I want them

Note: canopy mounting holes will still be used, no need to bore anew..

I hope you gets the picture..
