Hello Everyone,

I have the Bergen 11 T clutch gear with the 90T main gear and 70T crown gear on my Xcell 1005. Is this the optimum ratio for the G231 that I am using now? I calculate my ratio at 8.18 wheras I see a lot of others at 6.92 or less. Sould I be using a 13T clutch gear?

Thanks

Mario

What heaspeed do you want to spin?

With 710's or 720's, running a 1650-1800 headspeed, with a stock G231, you should use a 14 tooth pinion (6.43 ratio) to keep the engine in the power band.

I am running 700mm now but will be going to 710's next.
So do I need to get a 14T from you?

13T

You may want to consider the 13t from Bergen. I use that in mine and the ship runs and flies really well. A 14t will me like the stock Minair gear, 13t gives you a little more motor rpms to climb those hills.

My T-Rex is laughing as well!
Do you agree with Raja as well Mr. Bergen? I would prefer the best all around gear. I would like to get both but the price totals are climing rapidly. So I guess I will go with the 13T. Thanks Raja.

Is the motor stock?

We typically use the 13 tooth for modified engines such as those from BH Hanson.

Running this ratio may help keep the engine loaded to help it run Smooother.

Also depends an how you fly. Extreme 3D, you may want the 13 tooth to do as Raja suggests, keeping the engine RPM's higher.

While you are at it you can send yout clutch to Chris and have him put in a longer shaft (stock if you haven't already done so) for you so you can mount your jewel on top of it.

oh no no, not the longer one, just a stock one!

He needs a stock shaft. The one he has on his machine now someone cut off the excess so just about nothing sticks out of the top bearing block. Its strange, but I guess the previous owner was trying to save weight?

By the way Chris, my clutch and two cranks are on the way to you. Went out yesterday...

I will be going to miami for the hollidays and plan to get all my parts while I'm there. I still have a big urge to get a Spectra G! I know I don't need it but it looks so good! I need serious help.
