Today i bought a new battery for my jr radio when i fitted it the radio would not switch on,must be flat battery, when i checked it with a meter it showed 11 volts, so i fitted the old battery and it still would not switch on.
I then checked the fuse on the radio and that was duff so i changed it, but when i switch the radio on now it bleeps and shows only 8 volts and when i checked the battery it has 11 volts.
I am at a loss now, any one have a circuit diagram or any ideas please.

Try turning it on with the module removed. A battery can be almost dead a still show fairly good voltage with no load on it. If the voltage rises with the module out, charge the battery.

If God had meant for man to fly, he would have given him more money

Geo, how long have you had the 347 ? Has the lithium been changed since you got it ? Did you accidentally put the battery in the wrong way round ? When was the last time you used it ?

Sounds like the CPU is either getting the wrong voltage or the internal RAM has been corrupted.

If all else fails send it in to MacGregors and i will deal with it as soon as possible. We are in the process of moving and it won't be until sometime next week when we are back up running.

Just recived a email from MacGregors with a cost of fixing the radio with the faults i have listed, the price was good.
I have today changed the back up battery and its still the same, someone before me had done it as it had two small wires solderd to the battery.
The question as it is a old radio do i get it fixed or do i replace it, i had a try of a jr 9x did like it, see what i get for christmass of the wife.

And the service from MacGregors is tops could not ask for more.

Okay, not certain when I will be able to get my hands on it as we are in total upheaval at them moment.

The move is scheduled for next Tuesday and all my kit is packed up in about 10 plastic crates and about 40/50 odd cardboard boxes. Will have to wait till the benches are moved, powered up, shelving put back up and test kit unpacked.

I hope to be back up and running with some semblance of order by Thursday/Friday of next week.

PM me for an update next week......
