Hi guys

Does anyone know if the JR DS 8301 and DS 8401 are specific helicopter servos?

I'm planning to buy them in a Chinese shop and besides the very expensive DS8511, is what they have. I couldn't find the 8321 and 8421 which I know is heli servos.

Can someone help me with this?

Helibras,

8301 is what you want. That is what I'm fitting to my Vibe. The European (and possibly US) version is the 8231.

Cheers

I have 8301's on the cyclic on my raptor 50. 6.5Kg and .19/60deg. They've been great.

Great replies guys, now I'm curious if there is some one here that has a DS8401 servo. Or at least someone that knows if it's suitable to be used in helis.

Anyone?

I have been using 8401 servos for collective in all my helis for the past 3 years and they work great.

I know a lot of others that are using these servos too, and I have never heard of anyone having problems with them.

8301 is good for Heli use already. 8321 is the latest from JR with metal gear and high torque, also for heli use.

8401 is for plane use.

I use 8301 and 8321 but have not tried the 8401.

I've got two helis with the 8301 and two with 8231 ( both are listed by MacGregor - the 8301 is faster ) , and I've never had problem with either .

From Macgregors site :
DS8301 - 6.5/0.19/34.5x19x39/49 - High Torque Double Ballraced

DS8401 - 11.0/0.19/34.5x19x39/49 - Very High Torque

DS8231 - 6.5/0.22/34.5x19x39/49 -

DS8321 - 6.5/0.21/34.5x19x39/49 -

At the end of the day , it gets dark .

Nivlek,

Where is the equivalent to the 8311 with 9kg and 0.19sec?

Helibras,

I believe the 8311 equivalent in the UK is the 8321...

Yeah , Macgregor have the DS8321 incorrectly listed as 6.5kg at a speed of 0.21s over 60 degrees , when it is really 9Kg at 0.19s .

Hey,

Wonder if JR is going to produce a servo that will rival the 9252 or the new faster servos from Futaba and Airtronics?

I use the 8301's and 8231's but have started using the 8511's these servos on 90 size helis are fantastic, but 3 on a CCPM heli is just unreal!!

The torque these develop copes much better with the loads so they don't slow down!! Excellent!!

Could do with a servos that's a smidgin faster though!

Cheers!

I've heard that JR is the only company that measures servo speed under load so that's why they show lower speed on specs.

Have anyone of you heard the same?
