I just got a set of blue metal blade grips for my t-rex the spacing seems to be wrong do I need to by the metal head for them to work

Nope !,

but you do need to rob the bearings out of the other grips and put em' in there.

Yes, wood blades with plastic roots are very tight. I here the real Align carbon blades fit fine. Some sand the plastic roots down some. Search this forum for other examples.

I got 2 sets of the align carbons, for the 2 t-rexes I have, one set fit ok the other way to tight, did'nt switch the blades around so it could be the blades or the blade grips.
