This was originally a strongly worded bashing of Horizon's efforts at quality control.

My issue has been resolved in a grand way. I wish to take back what I said, and I have.

Advice to anyone with Blade problems: Take it up with Horizon. They WILL help. If you are having problems with any particular individual in the customer service/warranty department, escalate it, and explain your problem to someone in management.

Great job, Horizon, on a fine resolution!!

Good flying!

Response

Update:

I have received a very nice, very helpful sounding PM from a product development rep with Horizon. He seems quite interested in finding a resolution to my problems.

Edit: This issue has been resolved.

At least they rebuilt your heli. I had a bad 4-in-1 too out of the box, which caused the heli to practically beat itself to death from glitching, 10 seconds after it was out of the box brand new and before a skid ever left the ground.

I got a new 4-in-1 - and all my beat up parts back. Fing jokers.

Out of the Box New

I liked my first one enough to buy a brand new second one.

It did fly well right out of the box. Smooth controllable hover. And for my skill level, that's saying something too.

I quickly converted it to well used as my flying progressed though and today that one needs a new tail boom/fuselage.

Coming into this area of the RC hobby from a Balsa USA Stick 40, I had no idea what to expect. But 200 or so ready to fly complete with Tx seemed a good value, and was.

Those of you who have 50 size glow around maybe are a bit let down.

Again, let me clarify:

My problem is NOT with quality. [The Blade] is what it is. My problem is with QUALITY CONTROL. Receiving a defective unit and then being treated poorly is the problem.

The model itself is great, and a great value for the price. I just want my lemon replaced.

Edit: Issue resolved. In my case, Horizon has responded to a QC issue that previously fell through the cracks. Great job!!

Stealth, that sucks. Since Horizon is paying attention to this thread in particular, maybe they will contact you, too, and try to help.

Alright

I got a phone call from a Horizon service rep yesterday. He spent some time listening to me explain my problem and position. He then told me he had a Blade, brand new, in a slightly damaged box, that he and the guy who first responded to my post would both test fly and then ship to me, along with a call tag to pick up the other Blade.

Thank you, Horizon!! for making the effort to resolve my problem! The value of your product and support has just increased exponentially for me!!

I will update you all when I receive the new Blade, and all posts will be edited.

Thanks again, Horizon!

It’s very cool you have gotten intervention and I am sure your replacement blade will prove to be an airworthy craft.

I give up trying to fly but hopefully you will become an accomplished pilot as I must have some fiercely stupid thumbs.

Tinner, dont' give up. Just stick to the basics. Get a sim if you can; it will save you hundreds in repair costs while you learn. I have no skills, but I fancy myself a hover expert. I can precisely hover my nitro in my backyard, and land it on a dime, even in wind. I am hoping the new Blade will prove to be glitch-free, which will allow me to do the same with it.

Keep trying!!

I have also had problems with Horizon on support. I purchased a brand new 10X transmitter and the first time I flew my XL Gasser with it (I had been using an 8103) the gasser went wild and crashed. I contacted Horizon and they told me it had to be an interference problem since all my other heli's on the other memories work ok. So I did a lot of research and rebuilt the helicopter, changed many things to try to stop the interference and on the very first flight it did basically the same thing and crashed. I again called them and they told me that interference on gassers is very common. I rebuilt the helicopter and sold it. I then put a nitro machine (Vario X-Perience) in the memory slot that the gasser was on. As I ran the engine up on the ground, it took off all by it-self and crashed...beating itself to death on the ground. A .90 sized helicoper with no throttle control can be a scary thing. It took me a year to get all the parts I needed to fix the Vario. I contacted Horizon again and they said it could not be the transmitter, but if I wanted to send it back they would check it out. I sent it back and they found a bady memory on memory #1 and they repaired it. When I got it back I was a little upset since I felt they were somewhat responsible for the crashes. (the only crashes I had that year). So I gave them a call and the guy I talked to was very rude and said that they do not pay for damge caused by their defective radios and I should be happy since I now had basically a brand new radio. I thought that is what I had purchased in the first place for $750. The final total was about $1500 dollars in repairs and no help from Horizon.
