Friend of mine ordered this bird...has never flown before so I told him probably not a good idea...where to get parts etc. but you can't beat the price on these kits if they come as advertised.
Does anyone know anything about this brand (or is it a cheap knockoff of something already out there?)
I know it's not a century product, but y'all are a smart bunch. Opinions appreciated!

i believe that's a walkera #36 (shogun/zap/zoom knockoff). the walkera's are notoriously bad out of the box. of course, if you throw enough money at it, you can make it flyable. but, then you've defeated the purpose of buying a cheap-o heli.

big 'ol thread on rcu here

rcg has a big thread, too. but, that forum's being a pita right now. can't search.

if it ain't broke, break it.

Cuda...bad link or maybe site is afu....
Deal seems "to good to be true" if you ask me, especially for the belt drive tail. If I should ask the same on a different forum here please advise.

ya, i see that link is fubar now. i tried linking a couple of times...i guess rcu has some software set up to keep from linking.

i'd try both rcu and rcg...just search for walkera #36 and you'll find it. i know one of those fora has an entire thread dedicated to the little monster.

suffice to say, for the $$$ you'd invest to get the thing flying halfway acceptably, you might as well get the name brand (shogun) and save yourself the frustration. and, the same can be said for any of the dragonfly models (they're all knockoffs of one bird or another).

there is no free ride in this hobby. you get what you pay for. you may find a deal here and there occasionally from legit vendors. but, you're not going to get an $800 heli for $150.

if it ain't broke, break it.

They both fly, believe or not. But won't for very long. The plastic are soft and the electronics and servos are very unreliable.

I would only buy the #35 which is an exact copy of the Shogun V1. The #36 is a Walkera's brain child that has a belt drive tail all to its own. So you have to buy Walkera parts to fix it.

For the money #35 is not a bad beginner's bird. beginner crashes any ways. just make sure to buy good parts for repair.

3D Pro? I have only "1D" under my belt, what am I going to do with "3D"?
