I was curious why most people use Hitec servos for their T-Rex or X-400 helis.

I see a lot of configurations and most of them included these servos. Can some one fill me in on why?

I am ordering a T-Rex\X-400 (Not sure which yet) for X-Mas and wanted to know if I should go with Futaba or go with the Hitecs.

Thanks,

Most people use the Hitech 55's because it was a cheap servo with good specs. It was also before they came out with the HS56 servo that many people are using now. I would go with the HS56, because the HS55's have very brittle servo gears. They will break if you look at them funny.

Take Care,
Cheers, Patrick

Get the Futaba 3110 servos. Better specs and lower price.

How about the Eflite servos? I think they're the S-75's?

$13.49 at the LHS, supposed to be strong and reliable.

The HS55 is a direct fit, no mods required. The HS 56 need holes add in the frame or servo. The HS56 output shaft also protrude about a .1" because of the output shaft ball bearing.

I use the HS56's.

shackscs,
from what I gather the s75`s are e-flites answer to hitecs hs55s
I`ve been using them in my mx400 and have had no problems.
they have an Operating Voltage of 4.8-5.3vDC and a speed of
.12 sec/60` @4.8v with an output torque of17.2 oz/in.
if your on a budget they work fairly well and if money is less of a
problem I would go with the futaba s3103 or 3107.
for what its worth its just my take on the subject. Larry

HS-56 seem to be THE servos for the TREX. HS-55's get a little sloppy after a few flights due to the plastic gears.

Check out the many, many threads on the runyder TRex forum.
