I am making the switch to lipos and need to know how you guys are running your helis. I am going to run 2s lipos, stock motor. since i have the elite fp the blade grips are pretty much maxed as far as pitch goes. i am going to use the stock plastic blades. What pinion should i run?, there is a drop in voltage going to the system because i am not using the birdseeds. I also have a set of like 90 blades if i was going to use those what pinion would i run? So what i am basicly asking is if i should keep the stock 10t pinion or should i go larger? what about with the like 90 blades?

If you use 2 cell it will be gutless. I run 3 cell, much faster head speed and loads of grunt. Thunderpower 3s 1p 900 mAh are great, they weigh 64g so big weight saving. 5 in 1 will take it, I have run mine for a year like this, I have 4 packs and run continuous for 2 hours at a time. Fit main and tail heat sinks and a large CNE253 tail motor. Even if I have to replace the 5 in 1 every year I would consider it good value for the excellent performance. If you want pics of my machine and movie, send me a PM and I will forward.
All the best,

jollsnj. If you run 3S packs, make sure you switch out the GWS PHA-01. GWS says that PHA-01 doesn't work with 3S packs. I am sorry that I don't have a Elite FP, so I can't help you with the blades and other stuff.

3D Pro? I have only "1D" under my belt, what am I going to do with "3D"?

Hi Jollsnj,

I've been running FP's for a few years. It's my winter bird, indoors in NH. I'm running 3cell lipos with a brushless setup. I would recommend going brushless. The 3cell combo'd with a brushless motor gives great flight times (15-20 min). The century lightning brushless can be had for 24.00 great deal.

You have to have a brushless esc, I'm using a castle creations 10amp controller for the main motor and a TREC esc for the tail (dionysus design).

The 2cell lipo will work well with a stock brushed motor, but for good head speed and long flight time, I would consider a 3cell brushless setup.

Cheers,
Leslie

That's a lot of expence for a FP. Standard Brushed main motor (with heat sink) is ok with 3 cell Li-po. If it burns out once a year your only looking at about £12.00. Standard blades are ok just cut an inch of the end.

I've been running 2S 1100mah on my FP Hummingbirds for quite a while. With a brushed motor and Like90 blades, I was using an 11T pinion. If you plan on using the stock blades, though, you can probably keep the 10T pinion. Now I run brushless motors with 10T pinions and Like90 blades. I would try 3s, but I'm afraid of burning up my tail motors.

I'm running a Hi-Max brushless motor, Df tail (I believe its an EDP-50H motor) and 3s lipos in my V1. I also have the original little white gyro still installed. Runs great, good flight times (upwards of 20+ minutes). There are a bunch of old posts on here if you do a search. Zoom is a good one to look for, and I believe there was a pretty decent post by madguns awhlle back for setup.

Can't expect much better than this for a virtually stock fp hummer running on Li-po's with flight times of 17mins+http://website.lineone.net/~willwal...ning Hummer.wmv
