I have a 3D elite pro kit about half built. I have a sizing tool for my bigger helis but I haven't seen one for these little ones. Does anyone have a good method for sizing these? They are definitely too tight right now.
How was the fit of the crown gear to the front tail drive shaft gear on your builds? Mine was very tight. I sanded off quite a bit of material to get a decent fit but it is still tight. I figure I'll run it in with a little lapping compound when it's done. The gears in the tail were also a bit tight but I think they will be okay. On mine, the tail shaft was also a hair too long. It took a little sanding to get it so it didn't rub the spacer on the tail output shaft.

Thanks,,,Matt

What I do is just squeeze the link with pliers... very gently. It stretches the plastic very slightly giving a looser fit.

PS make sure the link is warm (room temp) first as the plastic is less brittle than if its just been sitting in a cold garage.

I tried that on a couple before I had one break on me when it slipped Now I have to make a trip to the LHS and get a few spares. I was afraid too that I might crush the ball itself and end up with a sloppy connection.

make sure you have a ball in the link when you squeeze it. shouldnt break the link that way.

if it ain't broke, break it.

The links on my V3 only go on one way, you may want to check that on your links.

There is a real fine line between not squeezing it enough to make a difference and squeezing it hard enough to slip off and break the link. I always felt that method had to oval the ends too.

I made my own reamer with a ball on a shaft which I "knurled" by gripping it at opposing angles all around with a sharp flush side cutters.
