Im having trouble deciding what motor to get but now im pretty much fixed on the idea of getting a Neu motor because of all the good reports of its performance, quality, and efficiency. Im also leaning towards getting 4s because of the better efficiency but on 4s and a 1102/2Y the headspeed is a bit to high for me at 3000rpm. So how about a 1107/2.5Y on 4s to tame the headspeed to a more "appropriate" level.

Any ideas or experiece to share?

The 1107/2.5 is an excellent choice for use with a 4s LiPo. That way you start with a reasonable headspeed and you can easily change gearing when ready for higher speed. Go for it!

BTW who has a good price on Neu Motors?

Check at Tppacks.com

Gary Goodrum has some great prices on the Neu motor setups.

Well then I think I may have found the right motor for me. I want to order from tppacks but the Neu and 4s packs are out of stock. I can wait a bit but not too long, its a shame because hes got the nice 10% discount deal.

They had the 1107/2 in-stock last time I checked.

I've been pondering over the same 4s motor choice....

Ben-T-Spindle, do you mean the 1105/2.5y?

Can't see an 1107/2.5y....

Surely the 1107/2y would betoo much on 4s @3400kv?

Hi Chugga-bug

I think the 1107-2y is the best setup on 4S. Here is my setup, you can take a sneak peek of it. http://runryder.com/helicopter/t204...ghlight=steroid

I would agree that it is the "best" overall setup for 3D but I dont think I need my heli to be quite that powerful although it would be nice. Problem is that I dont really want 3000 rpm and I think for those who dont want such high RPMs and still want a high quality and powerful motor, the 1107/2.5Y may be a better choice.

Hi Hunter69,
I've seen your vid before... Very impressive!!

I'm not upto that level of flying yet, and don't want to run such high headspeeds. I'm really looking for a motor that will give me approx 2600-2800 rpm but without too much bogging. And if poss. more flight time!
Any ideas what would do this for me?
What % throttle are you running with a 9T to get 3030 rpm?

Heli-fool....
I can't see such a motor on their list..

Chugga-bug,
No I meant the 1107/2.5Y – I really like the larger motor.

Ok..
Now i see it!!!
I was looking at the list here;
http://nesail.com/detail.php?productID=3872

They don't show the 1107/2.5.

That looks like it could be the one for me.

I know you are not asking me but he is probably running at 100% because the motor setup is advertized as capable of achieveing 3030rpm at tppacks.

Only thing i don't like is the wieght!! 90 grams!!!

How does it compare with 450th or 450f? Which i know is a lot lighter.

I dont really know but from what I have seen the neu is more efficient. Perhaps 1105-3Y would interest you as it's lighter at 65grams. You saw the video yourself though, Hunter69's heli really hauls so the little extra weight cant be too bad.

Don't be scared of a high headspeed, if everything is tracked in you will love it. Makes 3D that much more snappier and I find it more stable myself. To slow is scary once you go inverted and start kicking it in the arse. I am awaiting a Medusa 3400, according to discussions headspeed should be in the 3000-3200 mark, frankly I can't wait! I know of a few people that are running 3600+! Now that,,,,,,,,,is abit too much for me, sounds like a saw running!

1107/2Y, 4S PL, Jazz, 9T, SAB320s

This is my setup.

The proper mesh to the main gear is very difficult with the 9T pinion.

What sort of flight times do you get on your set-up?
I assume your running 2000PL's?
