Just wondering if anyone else has the same results. The motor that came with my SE vibrates alot. You would think it was a glow motor. I have never had a brushless that was like this. Are any of you with the same setup seeing similar results?

I haven't run mine yet but I've also noticed that there is
some rattling noise when I spin it by hand ....

Is the vibration in the motor causing the heli to vibrate or is it
just a question ?

I've heard that some of these motors have bad bearings ...
Maybe yours and mine fall in that category ?

Vibration

I have a Vibration too, but haven't tracked it back to anything yet. Blades are balanced, haven't tried balancing the tail blades yet. I noticed the head looks a little warped when spooling up. Seems to correct itself when up to speed, but the head button is wobbling around when I do spool up.

Actually my swash separated so I'll have to put it back together first.

So far I have identified three points that can cause vibration
(this is in theory because I haven't run it yet)

1) The motor is rattling (bad bearings ?)
2) The main shaft rides realtively loosely in its bearings (loctite ?)
3) The center ball in the swashplate is realtively loose (replace ?)

I just noticed it when i hooked up the speed control and checked that the rotation direction was right. I spun up the motor to about 1/4 throttle. You could feel it in the main frames, and you could sort of see the servo arms starting to blur. I havent flown it yet, still waiting on the tail servo, but from what I saw, I'm not very happy with it. I've never had a brushless shake like this. My other brushless motors are smooth as glass when they run.

Hey Mike,
We have about 20 flights on our SE with the same motor and have not noticed any vibration issues like the one you mention. Certainly no blurred servo horns! Get a replacement.

I have talked with a few guys running them. Guys I know well enough to trust their opinion, and none of them said they had seen similar results. I trust the opinions of most of the guys here as well, but i wanted to stress that the others were people that I have known for many years. Most likely just a fluke with mine. I emailed align to see what they say about it. I'll slap another motor in there in a minute, but I hate that I payed for something I won't use. It would be ok if i tried it and found I wanted more power or something, but the way this is now, I don't really want to subject the radio gear to it.

Mike

Side Note. My profile says I've only been here 6 months or so. Don't let it fool you. I've been here since this place started.

I am running two of those motors and none have any vibration problem. Check the motor shaft to see if it's bend. Or it could just be bad bearings like mentioned above.

The motor is on its way back to Align, and a new one is on the way to me. I say thanks to Align for taking care of it so fast.
