Draxus rrNovice Newbury Park, CA - USA | I've split apart my 4-in-1 with plans of possibly adding a better RX or at least having the option of switching out later for a synth receiver. Anyway after a little resoldering I've pulled the black plug from the back of the gyro/esc module and soldered on two 3" servo wires onto the front. For the RX I've pulled the two connections for throttle and tail (3 and 4) and moved them to the same side as the others so I can flat mount it (same as you would any other RX now). What I'm looking to do is cover both with the plastic hand tool grip stuff that you can dip a tool handle into. What I'm curious about is if anyone has done anything similar? If you have, how did it work for you? Should be worried about any heat off of the ESCs (I have no idea how hot they get)?

Gary Hoorn rrKey Veteran Annapolis Maryland USA | Why would you want to do that? I would not dip components of mine in that stuff. Some of that is not pure enough and if the heat did not cook something the conductivity of the coating might cause problems. Did you read the articles by Ron in Rotory about hacking the Blade?

BikeNBoatN rrVeteran Santa Ana, CA USA | Instead of dipping, why not use thick heat-shrink tubing? That works for the ESC, don't know why it wouldn't work for the RX.Brent.

Draxus rrNovice Newbury Park, CA - USA | The stuff wraps around parts better than heat shrink tubing. What I got has the same chemicals as the same stuff used as liquid electric tape.
I desoldered the connections on the back of the Gyro/ESC module and the Receiver and soldered prongs on the Rx so it is the same as any off of the shelf Rx and soldered cut servo extensions to the Gyro/Esc so that it can be used with any Rx.
I'm still using the original Rx until I can figure out where my problem lays with my other Tx & Rx.
Here are some pics of how it turned out:
