I don't know if I just got a bad motor or if something is wrong. I hovered my honeybee cp2 about 4 times with the new DD tail and this last time the motor wouldn't go. Thought it was the 4 in 1 but finally figured out it was the motor. I'm using the stock setup, so I'm just wondering if maybe I had a bad motor or if I'm going to keep burning up these motors. Stock motor ran fine, so I can't believe the DD tail wouldn't be fine as well.

How was your DD setup? Was the prop on facing the correct direction?

I made sure my DD tail was setup in 'tractor' style so the air from the prop passes over the motor to help cooling.. I have quite a few flights with no problems yet.

Yes, I too had the prop forcing air over the motor to help cool it. I'm trying a new one out now, we'll see how long it lasts.

Did your motor part number have "/H" at the end of it? The ones w/o the "/H" are for low voltage use will burn out if you run 3s lipo's. I have the motor with "/H" on it and it lasted a month before it finally died.

Brent.

I hadn't noticed the H, but I'll check.

Are you sure you got the right motor? The edp-50/h is the right one. It has to have the H on the end or its will not handle the 3cell lipo. The plastic end on the back of the motor should be gray. I have mine set up in pusher mode with the stock gear box and the gws 4.5x3 prop. I have had about 25 flights and it is still just as solid as ever. I use a gws heat sink with three lightening holes drilled in it to get the correct cg. I feel it works better in pusher mode because you do not have to reverse the polarity of the motor. I think this causes less wear on the brushes. I am not an expert, but its got to run better the direction it was designed to go from the factory.

Adition, sorry I did not scroll down far enough and did not see that the H issue on the motor had already been answered. My bad.

The back of the motor is definitely gray, but I still haven't looked for the darn H. I do however run it backwords, maybe I'll try switching it.
