ok, here's one for you guys. and, absolutely zero photoshop play here...honest.

i did crop the photo a little. but, i promise this is just a simple effect done with the camera.

guess away. i'll acknowlege correct and wrong answers, or give hot/warm/cold. but, no hints.

if it ain't broke, break it.

Take a still picture of the computer, take another picture with your left hand in front of the screen, take another pic with the calculator, take another one with your right hand appearing to press a button. Something that has to do with laying one image over the other and doing some erasing or something. I saw a pic like this once.

no "erasing or something" all i did was crop and post the picture off of my camera.

your solution requires heavy photoshopping...which i did not do. but, i'll say you're more warm than cold.

if it ain't broke, break it.

hutch: no greenscreening or start/stop exposure. but, good catch on the flash on the left arm and not on the right. however, that was an oversight on my part and not really a part of the trick...more like i tipped my cards a little.

Al: that would be cool, but no.

winner!

i'll accept rctaz's last post as a solution since he reproduced the effect. (but, holy crap how about resizing the photo )

so, here's the drill:

1) on a computer screen with no applications visibly running, i held my left arm out in front of it like i was holding something and took the first photo.

2) download that photo to my computer and set it as my desktop pattern.

3) launch the calculator program and move it over the image of my outstretched left hand.

4) hold my right index finger over the calculator program like i am using it.

5) snap the second photo and crop out the image of the 'real' computer leaving just the 'desktop' image of the computer in the first photo.

credits: dunno if any of you guys have ever checked out the transparent desktops website before. but, it's kindof a nerd-cult thing. anyway, i stumbled upon this guy's entry and it had me stumped. once i figured it out, i had to try it myself, hence this riddle.

extra credit 1: looking over my effort, i notice i have done (that i see) 2 things wrong....kinda like the continuity errors in movies like someone wearing a swatch in 'Braveheart', etc.

hutch caught 1 in the flash on the left arm and not on the right. Find the other.

extra credit 2: a reference to a cheesy 80s song in the photo. name song and artist.

if it ain't broke, break it.

shot one would have been left and right hand. Left hand would have been holding a black piece of cardboard - the black carboard would minimalise the exposure. Shot two, taken on the same frame (double exposure) would have been the screen without the hands in the way, but black card would have been placed on the screen where the hands were originally placed.

Effect is as shown.

Am i close

i was wondering if you'd see that i love that pic...especially on that big screen.

i kinda used it on purpose here to prove it was my photo rather than one i nicked off the web.

if it ain't broke, break it.
