i need some new sources for blades for the 3dpro.

everyone i'm talking to is out of blades and either isnt reordering or doesnt have an eta on replacements.

the like90s are good. but, they're still just woodies.

i'd like to get some 255-260 sized CFs but noone has them. anyone have a source they wanna share? i know century has some 3dpro specific CFs, but the price is a little stiff. if i must, i must i suppose--just thot i'd ask.

thanks.

if it ain't broke, break it.

Hi Cuda
Do a search for KOK carbon blades. I have been having a bit of a look at these and they seem to fit the bill.
They come in a 255mm same root size as Pro.
Their marketed as blades for the MS Hornet.........BUT they have a wider chord than the Hornet blades, so should still be very usable for the Pro.
Here is one thread with some links to stores selling them
http://runryder.com/helicopter/t208500p1/
Ive also been looking around for Pro carbon blades and have found the same thing you have, in that people just arent interested in stocking them.
Pity we cant have some nice SAB or MAH blades...........

all i need to do is order one of those FG tubes zoom posted. so many things on the list...so little time

if it ain't broke, break it.

I will wait and see what happens with others doing the stretch before I commit to it.
Main thing Im concerned about is the stock boom size while stretching it. The stock boom supports are just a push fit, so wont really do much for the extra flex induced by extra length.
Freight would be a killer on the cheap price of those glass booms for me
Im going to put a 400dh in it, as I can get these locally for $55au.
Someone on here had done this and posted pinion sizes, but I will have to look it up again.
Where did you get your SAB"s from and how much$ ?
I have a Zoom as well with MAH's on it, but want to get some spares just in case lol.
Beautiful sunny day here, so Im off to the hobby store and a drive down the coast

sorry about the SABs, i traded for them. dunno where they came from.

but, i did find the KOKs locally to me at fxaeromodels. duzi's the distributor....if you're interested in them i'd think you just need to find a duzi dealer near you.

check out http://www.deeteeenterprises.com

they had hornet 2 carbons for around 30 bucks, im not sure if they would fit what your looking for specifically or not, but 30 for carbons doesnt seem too bad, worth a look.

Hornet blades do fit, but Im told that the chord width is thinner than the 3d Pro's, so really you'd lose a bit of pitch authority using those.

The problem with ALL the blades listed as 255 is that they are all designed for the MS Hornet. Chord width will come into it every time, UNLESS they are made with a wider chord, which so far Ive only seen the KOK blades do.
A shame actually.

gorn, What chord width are you looking for? The 225's I have all seem to be ~34mm, the Walt Ferar 255's I have are ~27mm. Are you perhaps being overly concerned here? Enlighten me. Happy flying, Tom

Hmmmm
I just re-measured my blades and they are 31.5mm.
Are you sure that you have carbon 255's that are 34mm?
If so, then thats excellent. Just from almost all posts on using Hornet blades on a Pro the thing that kep coming up was chord width.
My understanding is that if you have a smaller chord width then you lose lift for a given rpm, so it had kinda put me off trying to use blades that were marketed aftermarket for the Hornet.

Re-read my post. My 255's are ~27mm. These blades are all designed to work on heli's within a fairly small weight/headspeed range. Chord is just one aspect of blade design. You can always go to 280's. Happy flying, Tom

not on a stock 3dpro. mains hit the tailfeathers. i will go to the more plentiful 280s once i lengthen the beltdrive boom.

Do anyone know if the Century CF blades are in stock? Other than they are too thick at the root, any other problems with them?

3D Pro? I have only "1D" under my belt, what am I going to do with "3D"?

I cut a pair of SAB 280s down to 255 and ground the inside of the root to fit. I know they can withstand 3400 rpm with the aluminum grips.

Hey King,

They are MAH blades and are very strong
http://www.mahblades.com/default.ph...07631f722ae4f4c

They are designed for the Hornet II but work perfectly with my 3D pro. They are one sale now $40.00 ( reg. $65.00)

ian.
