I'm thinking of getting a fury, at least that's what i think it is. I know someone who is selling a m.a. model, that has maybe been flown once or twice for 1700, with gy601, gv1, all futaba digital servos, ys61 engine, ready to go without blades. does this seem like a good deal? The canopy has a fury sticker on it, but i don't know much about the model line from miniature aircraft. The frame is not all carbon fiber i think, it looks like black fiberglass.

how can i tell what model it is?

Hey,

It sounds very much like a Fury 60 (Sport or Expert), best thing to do is look and the miniature aircraft website or a distributors site and familiarise yourself with the MA line of helicopters.

The frames are G10 which is black fibreglass.

Hope this helps!

so for a nearly new heli, if it is a fury, would the price be resonable, considering the electronics? I thought it was a reasonable asking price.
i took a trip to the M.A. site and the pics are kinda blurry...so hard to tell.

Hey,

Hard to say really without seeing the machine with all the electronics etc....and the condition of it.

Best thing to do is to price up all the componants that it has fitted and see what the total comes to, if anything i would say you could probably buy a new fury 90 extreme with most of the componants to get it flying the same money.

I bought a fury expert a long while ago for 1100 shipped with a 601, os 61, 9451's , gv1, blades, reciever. The condition wasn't too bad, but I never flew it since I only wanted the electronics and the canopy.

Also bought a fury extreme with a ys91, 401 , 649 reciever, 8311's and a Jr 6103 for 975 Shipped. It came with a burnt out clutch 680mm blades and a 31.5 inch boom which the guy wasn't honest about.

Best buy was probably a fury extreme in like brand new condition for 750 Shipped. 710 v-blades, os 91 cspec ps with viperhead, mp2 , 9202's, gy502 gyro.

You can look and find a better deal. You should be able to get an almost rtf Fury for under a 1000. Sometimes the guy knows what he is doing and sometimes he doesn't and that is a big risk. If you can add 100-200$ to the cost for potential replacement parts and still call it a good deal then you should probably go for it.

i know the condition of the heli. it hangs in the hobby shop where i work.
It can't have been flown/started more than once or twice. The servos are all futaba digitals, I can't remember which, it has a gy601, gv-1, voltage regulator, ys61 pump engine, the thing is just gorgeous...it's owned by my boss who doesn't flly any more.

$1700 is on the high side. I sold my extreme here for $1300 with everything. 601 gv1 149 receiver 9252 servo os 91 motor. Shop around abit more. You can find a way better deal than that. Also if you work at a hobby shop don't you get a discount of some sort? If you a MA dealer he would have got that for alot less.

Buying used stuff can be dicey. MA machines are great heli's, but they take a certain kind of builder to make them correct. I think $1,700 for a used Fury is high. If it isn't NIB, then it's used. There are different levels of used, but you never know until you start looking into the machine you just bought. I have purchased several used MA helis. Some were like new, others were worn out junk. Not one of them was ready to fly. They all had at least one thing wrong in the assembly process, usually involving gear mesh, spacers, shims, things of that nature. The last heli I got on here is going to end up costing only slightly less than new to get it right, not including the tear down and re-build which takes twice as much time as building from a kit. Anyway, if you have $1,700 to spend, it won't cost that much more to buy it all new, at least then you will know what you have and how it's built.

I guess I should try to answer your questions. The black fiberglass you refer to is a composit similar to fiberglass, but closer to carbon fiber. Most Furies are built using this stuff. There are two models put out by MA, one is the Fury Expert and the later one is the Extreme. It's sometimes hard to tell as you can add upgrades to an Expert and bring it up to an Extreme or anywhere in between. If you can post some detailed pics on here, myself and several hundred other guys can probably identify it for you.

well, i added up the cost of the heli and everything that is in it, and i got over $2000! I estimated the cost of the ys61 at $300 because i couldn't find pricing anywhere.

I talked to the owner and the heli has been flown once, but not by the person who owns it now. The builder flew it once and then handed it over, where it went on display at the lhs.

i guess the reason i keep on looking for this one is that i may be able to get it on a payment plan. I don't have $1700 laying around, so this may be an option to get a much nicer heli right now.

I also will find myself flying a little less if i get this because crashing it won't really be an option. I'll keep flying my rappy, and the fury would only be flown "gently" for now.
